DVD files to the Disc...

Hi..
I downloaded two documentaries which came in DVD format.
I know the basics of burning DVD's .. but im unsure what and how I should burn these two.
The files i downloaded came in RAR. within the RAR are these files.
VTS_02_0.BUP
VTS_02_0.IFO
VTS_02_1.VOB
VTS_02_2.VOB
I tryed to burn these files as DVD but i get an error message.
Unable to insert VTS_02_1.VOB
I tryed naming the folder as VIDEO_TS But it still doesn't work.
hmmm.

do the files load to DVD Shrink ok? do the vob's play in powerdvd ok?

No and No. I should have mentioned that earlier.
shit i need to get these big chunky movies off my computer. only 128mb. just popped up 10 min ago.

Is this an Image file you downloaded and using the open command in WinRar to see what's inside? If it's an RAR you have to extract with WinRar before you can do anything with the image or files. If it is an image file, you have to handle it different from the file mode. WinRar can extract files from an ISO image to a Video_TS folder and then record in the file mode. Handling DVD files with WinRar is a bit different.

The files were rar'ed up.
There was no folder that can along with it. just those files

Rar'ed up? What does the term mean? I use WinRar, but haven't heard that particular phrase. If you mean archived in the RAR format, I was asking if you entered the "open" command or "extract" to extract the files to a folder. I guess I need to ask, how did you un-rar the files?

rar'ed means winrar.
I just double clicked on a rar file and dragged and dropped the file group into a folder.

Okay, I'm starting to get a picture in my own clouded mind.
With these files. Did they come in one winrar file or separate ones?
If they are in one folder, try this (if in separate rar files, extract them separately into the same VIDEO_TS folder).
Create a folder named for the documentary.
In that documentary folder, create a folder named VIDEO_TS (All caps just as I typed it).
Remember where you create this folder.
Copy (not drag and drop) and Paste the rar file to this VIDEO_TS folder.
Right click the rar file and select and enter "Extract Here".
Then try opening the VIDEO_TS folder with Shrink using the "Open Files" command. (Remove the original rar files from the VIDEO_TS folder and keep only the extracted ones.)
On some occasions, winrar creates an ISO. If it does that, you open with "Open Disc Image" under File.
On occasions when winrar creates an ISO, I put it in the main folder for the project (same level as the VIDEO_TS folder).
If I want to further break the ISO down, I leave a copy in the VIDEO_TS folder and use "Extract Here" on the ISO.
If I just keep the ISO, I delete the VIDEO_TS folder.
If you extract an ISO into a video-ts folder, remove the original ISO file from the VIDEO_TS folder. Just good house keeping.
Let me know what happens. The object here is to use the extract command on the RAR file and not "Open" and drag and drop.

the rar files for the movies are chunked into multiples. I think there was 20 rar files.
I tryed what you said to do. I used the "extract" function in winrar. I still get only those files.
When I try to burn it in DVDShrink I get a error message saying. "failed to open file G:\VIDEO_TS\VIDEO_TS.IFO
hmmmm..
anymore suggestions?

hi
take the 2 vobs (remove old ifo / bup) and make new ifo / bup to use on this project!
use the app ifoedit and click button CREATE IFO and it will make new ifo bup
then try to load to shrink for testing and burn!

tell me something? have you played the vobs in powerdvd to see if you have the whole film?
oh yes you did say that they dont play in powerdvd so they are probably currupt and no good!

Rotary is right, if the files don't extract properly and you can't view them, then odds are, they won't record as a DVD movie.

Hi.. I did as you mentioned. IFOEdit did create more files but now i get an error message
"Failed to open file "g:\VIDEO_TS\VTS_01_1.VOB"
I am going to delete these files in a couple days, if i can't getem going.

ifoedit is quite complex and if you play with it you may find a VOB correcting button etc!!!!!
