I thought it would be nice to start a thread where people with the new PSTwo Slim can post their experiences with different brands of DVD-+Rs.

I know there are FAQs and thread , but I have found that they are for the older PS2s. Hopefully this thread will help us all out so we don't waste out $ on media that doesn't work.

My experiences:

Memorex 8X DVD+R - poor media
Choppy audio and video when they will boot.

TDK 8X DVD-R - very poor media
Will not boot at all. No success at all

I haven't had a really good backup yet. I'll be trying today with another brand. Any suggestions from those with the PSTwo Slim?

Well i won't have my slimmy till next week, with the DMS4 Pro chip of course. But for my V7 PS2 I have found one disc that worked every time so i stuck with it.
Phillips 8X DVD-R all the way.

Incidently i've burned games at 12x using the Ridata 8x and they've been fine for both the PS2 & XBox. Funnily enough the XBox doesn't seem to care what media i use, be it cheap or not so cheap!!

On the burner upgrade issue i've got 2 Pioneer 106's & 2 Pioneer 108's and the first burner i had was a Pioneer 104 so you might say there's a pattern emerging LOL ;)

I've had a good experience with Sony DVD+R 4X. Around 20 burns with only 1 coaster. Maxell DVD+R 8X is garbage for me and TDK DVD-R 4X also skips on CG sequences for me. Taiyo Yuden DVD+R 8x I cannot use at all.
