i'm sure all of you have read this a million times, but i just bought a new lite-on dvd burner and the darn thing takes 3 hours to burn a dvd. i've already changed my IDE from PIO to DMA, switched the jumper from slave to master, and i'm running out of ideas. i've checked this along with dozens of other forums, yet no one seems to have a solution.

my stats are as follows:
Lite-On Dual Layer DVD Burner 16X
2.60 GHz
40GB memory
256MB DDR

Have you went to lite-on's website to check for new firmware. if your burner is let's say a 1633 then look for that number specifically. Here is lite-on's firmware page.

http://www.liteonamericas.com/us/download.htm
what programs are you using to burn with, maybe try another burning program.

peace

go into control panel and device manager.
unistall your ide secondary and primary.... reboot, then reboot again, and this should solve your problem

ok...I'm having that very same problem, I believe that I'll get the new burner ( a Dual 1632 or better) and go with the "first pancake goes to the dog" philosphy this time...

I have the same Liteon Burner and it works well.

Your connections might be wrong as posted earlier and what software are you using? I have found software other than DVD Decrypter and Shrink can take a long time to do the job.

Is anything running in the background? Have you checked for viruses and/or spyware?

I was burning fine...albeit verrrrry slowly...now I can't get encrypt /shrink to shrink the movies....
I think this dvd shrink (with all my attempts at tweeking this and that) may have become corrupted ...Shall I purchase (the better 1632, 33 Lite-On or other brand) too along with the recommendation I just got to reload the shrink program?
specs:
Lite-On Dual DVD Burner 8X
1.33 GHz
90GB memory
192MB DDR
XP

Your not being specific. What are you trying to burn? Did you rip the file? File type? What program are you useing?

He maybe encoding the file that would explain the time.
