I have an MPG Video that I am trying to convert. The Video is 2 Hours and 23 Minutes. I have tried to use TMPG DVD Authoring to convert it over to VOB Files...and while it converts over fine..it only converts 45m 19s. I was like WTF? ..but the thing is...I have tried cucusoft converter, Ulead DVD Movie Factory..and when I choose the source File..it always registers that the Video is 45m 19s. ..but when I Windows Media Player and/or Cyberlink DVD Player to View the MPG File...it plays all the way through...with no problem, or hesitation at the 45m 19s mark. Thought this was strange.and I am not sure where to go from here...

Just a thought but are you trying to make them fit onto a DVD at the same time as conversion? If so just back them up to your hard drive first. Then you can run them threw Shrink to get them to fit on a DVD. Just make sure in what ever proggy you are using is set to infinit or something like that for file size output..

nope, that is not it...because the Conversion after it is done, is on my HD. and when you are in the program...either TMPg DVD Author, or another converting program...*tried several*..when you go and select "Source" is does open the Source File..but it reads the Source File as 45m 19s. You might have thought that the DVD I was creating was to large and that 45min was about 4.7g worth.and that Shrink would reduce the size to fit on a dvd-r. This is not the case.

I understand it is on the HArd drive but only 45min worth right? So all I was asking is are you sure you are allowing what ever program you are using is allowing more than that to be copied to your hard drive. Have you tried selecting the 45min as the start point and doing it again and see how much of that will go to your HD?

Another thought how much room is left on your HD?
Also how big is the file that is on your HD? (the one that was converted 45min)

I have the Whole File in MPG, 2 hours and 23 min. It plays fine in media player as well. I need to convert it...I open TMPG, use the Browse to open the Video I want. I select it...and BEFORE I convert it...you can click on Media information. I did...and it states that the clip I just selected is only 45min....and it was to be a 2g Files ( of vob's ) when done. I did it anyway...after seeing the 45min clip info...and it did in fact convert only 45min of the mpg file.

OK give this little proggy a shot is is free and simple

http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/video_encoders/vso_divxtodvd.cfm

TMPG is mainly used to convert from DVD to another format (yes it will convert to DVD also) so that proggy I gave you the link to may be a little easier for you... :-)

Look where??? Is there supposed to be a link after that or something? Kind of odd way to end your post. I just figured you forgot the link is why I laughed :-)

And yeah VCD his file is only 794GB this would lead me to believe that it is converting to fit on a CD not a DVD
