i burned a copy of saw and it loads slow and the movie skips every five minutes or so. i used verbatim dvd+r.
why does it do this

Is this an older stand alone DVD player? If so, it may not support +Rs. It would try to read but have a hard time doing so.

What programs did you use to create the disk?
Have you created other backups using same method and media that played fine?

i used AnyDVD in the background and Nero to burn. i used DVD Shrink to create the file before burning. i played it in a dvd player orion i think.

what was your burn speed? try 4X see if that works better.try playing it in your pc and see if you have the same problem .may be the dvd player or try DVD dash R instead of the DVD plus R

Try again, maybe you have a bad batch of discs. Either use different media if it's handy or if you have a cakebox instead of using the next disc, use one in the middle of the stack. Good luck.

Also when you ran it threw Shrink how far did you end up having to compress it?

Quality wise nothing there just different formats the DVD-R work better in most older player say 2 years or so and newer players also as where the DVD+R work better in the newer player less than 2 years. i find the DVD-R are more compatable.made sure your drive supports both when burning dvds.

I have to laugh when I see this, and I've seen it a lot lately. I first saw comments similar to this over two years ago. To be honest I burn both the + & - (which ever one is cheaper at the time)and I don't see where either one is better than the other? The important thing is the brand of media. Go TY's!!

Daugh.... Yeah I suppose that would help :-) If your burner only writes to -R for example I guess it wouldnt do you to much good to buy +R's, but no one here is that dumb... right?? LOL
