I had Viper Bios v.04 working on my gamecube, and I decided to try using GCOS and currently GCOS 1.3 cannot flash directly to the modchip, i was wondering without using a BBA or the parallel port, which seems to not be working for me anymore, if I could somehow get back to Viper's Bios. Thanks

gcos can flash directly to viper. check in the downloaded zip. there's a dol version and a vgc version. just load the vgc version in the viper loader and flash it to the chip as if you had flashed the cobra bios

A have a parallel cable and it NEVER works, I always have to plug the programmer directly into my parallel port, which with the case on is a huge pain in the ass because you only get a couple inches of that flexwire to work with, I'd resommend taking your case off or propping up the gamecube behind your pc so you can plug it in directly

It does suck flashing the viper via programmer...So I built mine like this...

Some may say it's just a waste of time but with all these cobra's,anaconda's,and gcos's popping up...I had to make things a little easier on myself!

Anyways, goodluck!

Thats a cool idea, only I prefer having the chip IN the cube ;) Couldnt you have made that into one of the unused com ports?

The coupler itself fit nicely in the serial port...I suppose you could hide it behind.
Truth is I don't use viper much anymore and have noticed conflicts with sdload when viper is installed so I prefer to remove it external.
I mainly use sdcard with gcos 1.4 to boot my dvd-r these days and would hate to have to flip my gc over everytime I wanted to add/remove viper.

Goodluck tho!

Hi Helltick,

Would you please provide some more accurate mapping of the VIPER cables to the RJ45 Plug (Picture 2)? Or maybe another link that points to this matter. I do not have a Programmer and I'm trying to build one.

Like this:

Viper -- RJ45
-------------------------
Yellow -> White/Orange
Violet -> Orange
Red -> ?? (can't see clearly)
Black -> ?? (can't see clearly)

Thank you very much

How did you attach the RJ45 Connector to the board?
