well i always believed verbatim to be the best.. and after attempting to back up some PS2 games today..( i say attempting because none of them work ).. yes i have swap magic and am using DVD-R's. Most of the games i backup freeze before title screen, and memorex ones seem to get further than verbatim.. i am writing the games to my HD at 1x.. but can only seem to burn them to a DVD at 4x.. this may be the problem, but thats the slowest my DVD writer burns DVDs =(

What speed are you burning those Vebatims at? I have recently discovered that the 16x SL and the 4x DL discs give me bad results(1 out of 3 turn out bad) if you burn them at top speed. By lowering the speed, I have eliminated the problem. It wouldn't hurt to update your firmware if possible.

i write from the game at 1x and burn to the DVD at 4x since thats the lowest my burner burns.

Do you have Nero DriveSpeed? You can control the read and write speed with this. If you do, make 2x one of the write speeds for your burner. This should do the trick. Let me know how it went.

i have it, but my only options are read speed, nothing for write speed.

what media code are these verbatim's. use dvdinfopro to check them, tells you media code and does a crc check too. ive used 100s of 8x (at 4x burns) without a single movie skipping (touch wood)
