Lower grade, smower grade,Ive burned over a 100 of those discs, and have yet to find an error, or a bad burn.I didnt know that dvd duping companies were experts in media grading.

not true, some people are getting 8x discs also
these are a lower grade than the other more expensive discs
but they are still really good discs

If these are indeed a lower grade of TY then I must say
they are still better than 99% of the blank media out
there. If it is genuine TY then it is first class.

The last batch I bought of this 'value grade' TY from meritline were of the TYG02 8x -r variety. 50 burns later, and not one bad sector. Talking about the quality of these value disks compared to 'premium' TY's is padantic. Whether or not it's true, the only way for it to be meaningful is if the 'value' TY's performed less reliably. From my experience, they don't. So in my opinion, it's a moot point.

I have also ordered these discs after reading the thread on the debate. I will have to say that it is a great deal for these discs, but for me anyway, the shipping sucks. I have ordered them over a week ago and they have yet to arrive. Supposed to arrive today and the tracking info shows they are still in California while I sit here in Michigan patiently waiting. If you order these discs, which I would recommend, prepare for a long ship wait! Just my 2 cents...

@XeroRspct,
It would help if you mentioned what site you bought them from. Everything I've bought from either meritline or supermediastore has arrived by day three, from Cali to Texas.

And DONT buy from shop4tech.com. They are well known and confirmed for selling media with fake Taiyo Yuden MID's.

No, the only TY media that is in question is the 4x media that several online retailers have been selling recently. The more expensive 8x TY media is top notch.

@Balaam
Sorry about the not so clear statement about the shipping. I was responding to the original poster who linked the discs from Meritline. I ordered the discs on Feb. 28th and according to the tracking information the are "Out For Delivery" scheduled to arrive today Mar. 9th. I may be a rare case in a shipment from Meritline taking this long, but nonetheless I am quite dissapointed! Apologies again about my first post... will be more clear next time!
