Wow, I'd rather stick to a regular TV now that I know this. I didn't know having a TV would be like having a baby.. (I just read about plasma screens and the causes of burn in and what not.. and the ways to prevent it.. way too much work/worry for a television)

It's a shame, because I wanted to buy a widescreen soon..

DLP tvs don't burn in. Take a look at the Samsungs. They have 46 and 51" beauties.

Quote:
LCD TVs use relatively little electricity, run cooler and more quietly than most plasma displays, and are essentially immune to the "burn-in" problems that plague CRT-projection and plasma TVs.
quote from bestbuy, are they lieng then?

Correct 2sweet!! It's plasmas not LCD's!! Both my computer lcd's I leave running all day and night and they are rock solid. I have a 35, 18, and 17 inch lcd. The 2 smaller lcd's i've had for about 3 years now and they stil keep on ticking. I prefer Lcd over Plasma.

guys, any Tv will eventually get a picture burnt into it if you keep displaying the same image for long enough. Buy a plasma or rear projection if ya want. Just don't be stupid and pause the game for hours on end with the tv turned on. If you pause the game... turn the tv off.

Then why do cable channels have logos on the corner of their screens? Bastards, trying to ruin my TV.

Burn-in only happens to CRT screens. The phospher coating on the inside wall of the CRT screen gets permanently marked with the image on the screen. LCD and plasma do not use phospher anywhere, so they do not burn in. Problem with LCD is dead-spot; it can be permenent white, black, red, green, or blue on certain pixels or lines of pixels.

I can absolutely guarantee you that any TV/Monitor/whatever can be burnt in. A couple of years ago I used to service ATM's and I have seen every kind of TV screen and monitor burnt in. LCD, plasma, normal tv's, rear projection... They can all be burnt in if you are irresponsible and display the same picture for hours on end.

That's what bestbuy and everyone else says, LCD's are basically immune to burn in.

Although lcd's can be burnt in they are definately long lasting if treated properly. But damn they are expensive. Well they are in Australia.
