Do they play in a stand alone DVD player?
They play in Media Player but not Power DVD hmm sounds more like a software issue than a problem with the disk, but be aware that memorex is one of the most hated brands of media around for DVD media!

slow down your burn speed and reduce your target size in DVD Shrink, that might help.

Ok,that eliminated one solution.
What movie are you trying to do?
You might wanna run a crc check with this:http://www.dvdinfopro.com/
Maybe its just one really bad disc.In the future buy taiyo yuden, verbatim, fuji, maxell or ritek.

I think Memorex is your problem. They suck! For Xmas hubbie bought me the Epson R320 along with a pack of 25 printable Memorex (he didn't know any better). I had even hinted to him that I had already ordered printable discs. The pack was pretty hit or miss. You may get a few goods ones I but to me it wasn't worth the aggravation - I trashed them. I would try and return them.

I use Memorex DVD+R 8X all the time and I never have any problems. Even cheap ones work just as well for me. End user thang.

tmog - "End user thang" Interesting, one could infer that people are not doing things properly.
There are probs with the consistency of memorex. If it works for you, fine. Just don't recommend them. You are leaving yourself wide open..........

End user thing - interesting. I've been backing up movies for about 1 year and my only play back or burn problems have been with Memerox yet with Ritek and TY's they're fine. I guess Memerox DVD's require - nah not worth it.

I did not recommend, nor did I endorse Memorex. Get the record straight.

Actually in tmog's defense the +R Memorex have been known to work well. Now I don't endorse Memorex and I stay away from them, but I have read a lot of people having good backup's with the +R format here on AD and elsewhere on the net. I would never reccomend Memorex to anyone because of there overall track record. Tmog is also just stating his/her success with those disk's I don't think they were saying to use them, and anyway this is a forum and we all have are own opinions it is up to the reader to figure out what advise best fits there situation and if they simply did a search on Memorex they would find that they probablly don't want to touch that media with a 10 foot pole!!

Now on the other hand Tmog there is no need to yell and it is against forum rules so you may want to edit your last post (take off the caps) :-)

Thank You BBMayo for your support & defense. You are absolutely correct in your statements. Now, I would like to know what media to start buying that isn't a brand name and is lower in cost?
What has everyone else used for over a long period?
Isn't all media basically the same?
Are there major definitive differences?
