I just started gettting these errors. It occurs at about 40% burned, what now?

It appears your burner isn't in DMA mode wich isn't good. Try uninstalling it through the Device Manager and see if that helps.
Go to Device Manager >
Expand the tree for DVD/CD ROM Drives >
Find the drive in question, right click it and go to Properties >
Under the Driver tab, select Uninstall then OK.
Now reboot and Windows should detect and reinstall the drive.
If this doesn't help try the same steps as above except expand the tree for IDE ATA/ATA Controllers and uninstall either the Primary or Secondary controller depending on which one the drive in question is attatched to. Nero Info Tool can tell you which chain the drive is on under the Configuration tab.

Okay, I did the second step you suggested, looked for the info in Nero toolkit and here is what it says:
Apparently my hard drive is primary ide channel, dma is on, my dvd burner is secondary ide channel, dma OFF, autorun on. So, what should I do from this point? Thanks for your help.

turn on dma for the burner
remove INCD from nero
slow down the speed to x4 max
what media are using?

Okay, I changed the setting on the secondary ide channel to dmae and now it works fine. It may or may not be a coincidence but this crap started after an automatic security download from microsoft. Weird. Thanks for your help. I would have never figured it out without you. Thanks!

Hi, sorry for my english, i have the same problem that porkrind and i looked for my configuration in Nero toolkit and i can see that i have setting my IDE channel in DMA on, but i cant burn yet, i have this configuration:

what do you mean you cant burn?
you need to give a bit more info
do you mean burn dvd's?
does your burnes allow this?
there are lots of reasons why you cant burn
dma is not one of them

hi all fist time here hope i can tickle your brains
ok i have a benq 8x4x12 and Nero 6 dont know the brand of disks but iv burned data, movies and games with this burner and software and disks. For some reason i cant burn anything when i try to burn something on dvdburner i get this erro bad media i still read any cd or dvd with this burner but cant burn any idea's thx
windows xp pro sp1
1.7 cpu
512 mem
cd burner and dvd burner (two)
nero 6 with everything
i did cean install and tryed dvd rippers shrinkers and a lot of other software any data even 100 mb still get (badmedia)
