OK guys I have softmod xbox w/ orig hdd, and it was modded w/ the mechassult linux thingie...well I am wanting to have the CHOICE of dashboard of my choosing, upon booting into my audio hack...a friend modded it for me so i have no hands on expertice here, but i have had it done for quite a few months now and been play around here and there...Here it is, I have MXM as the default dash..(not by choice) but i really have no problems w/ it so far...but i see other dashboards have their advantages..All my stuff is in my E folder, but there is no dashboard folder, I only see MXM -tdatd -udata -saves -PBL -Morden and of course -apps...I want know how one in my position would go about changing from MXM to evox i think would be a nice one to try...or others even if i decide later on..but i want to see if the trainers option will work for me w/o having games on my xbox hdd..and just so i know how it is done.I would appreciate any and all help on this..prolly an old issue for some, but I haven found any help so far that is for someone like me with the orig hdd and having a softmod. i know that w/o a chip and large hdd there are alot more "limits"

First off I am biased to the UnleashX Dash because its functionality, but evox is a good starter dash, but has its advantages too. anyways you need to do a couple things to change your dash, and it is real easy.

1. Go to your root area for E:, you should see a default.xbe, evoxdash.xbe, evox.xbe, something of that sort. something with the ".xbe" at the end.

2. Whatever that was listed as (default.xbe, evoxdash.xbe) rename the evolutionX or UnleashX (whatever dash you go with) .xbe file the same thing as above.

3. once that is done delete the MXM excutable file (.xbe) from the HDD, then transfer over your new excutable file and what ever file it came with (in the case of evolutionX the .ini file) to the hdd. Then reboot and you should now be seeing evolutionX as your new default dash.

quick note, if you use evolutionX look at the .ini file before you transfer it and make sure its commands are point to the righ folders (Apps, games, etc). the default should be pointing to it already, but I would check it, just in case.

Good Luck

and also isnt there a way to make it where i can add multiple dashboards and choose within my xbox which one to have on boot, or would that need to have a chip for that kinda option..and if by chance i have a bad version or miss something in this and some how messes up on me, will i still be able to recover my MXM using mech assault? lol i cant afford to mess this up and i just want to be sure to get it right the first time...and my evox ini looks like this

Hey im relatively new but i know somethings about ini files. For your first problem about the dvd player. Do you have a dvd player in your apps folder and yes it should say e: instead of f: in your case. For the network stuff just compare the old ini file with this new one. If the network settings are different you can change them. It can't do to much harm. Just don't delete any lines. And if you have any new dashboards can i have a copy mine are old.
