Hey I'm having troubles burning some DVD-Rs. I'm trying to use DVD Shrink and Nero and I'm having some trouble getting them to burn. I can get the file encoded into an .iso format. Then when I go to burn it won't start. It even ejects the disk, brings it back in for awhile. Then it ejects it again and says "error disk tray open" and then when I go to push it back in it says burn process failed. Any help is appreciated as always you guys seem to find the answer. Here is a copy of the log.

Your DMA is off for the dvd burner. Go into your device manager and reset the IDE controllers to DMA. If they won't stay on DMA, remove them from the device list, reboot and let Windows reinstall them properly to DMA.

Alrite, I'm making progress. I'm up to the point where I see the IDE drivers inside the device manager. But I don't see how to change them to DMA, I'm sure there's something easy I'm missing. Thanks again!

finding DMA

my computer>control panel>system>hardware>device manager>click the "+" box>right click secondary ide channel>properties>advanced settings>opt for DMA
click ok then reboot

if this dont work you need to unistall the IDE channel which controls the drives then reboot

Thanks for your help! It was all set to try DMA where available so I'm going to uninstall and reboot. As soon as it reboots it will want to reinstall that right away correct? Just trying to understand all this what exactly is DMA?

BTW you should not need to uninstall
just select DMA and reboot

unistalling the ide channel is just for when you having trouble selecting DMA mode in the normal way
