looks like a dvd-rom drive to me
if it is,then no
if you have nero(nero info tool)/alcohol 120 you can run a scan
it will tell you what it can do

OK I don't have Nero or anything like that. Do you have any ideas how I can burn to VCD? I have downloaded divxtodvd I just don't know where to go from there. See I use decrypter at home and i am at a friends home. And we want to be able to burn back up some of his dvds.

Well GDR is usually LG drives but I cant seem to find that model number anywhere.. Where did you get the drive from and do you have the manufacturer's name? That could help

my system is a dell deminsion 3000 desk tp it is the stock so it just came that way, also it has a Sony cd-rrw crx216e it is a dual drive.

best thing you can do is try it

if it has a cdr burner
its most likely just a dvd-rom drive
so the answer is no

OK according to the Dell site http://www1.us.dell.com/content/products/productdetails.aspx/dimen_3000?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&~page=1&~tab=specstab#tabtop

The standard drive is a CD ROM, but you could have upgraded to a DVD +RW.. Don't know did you?
