captured avi file from minidv camcorder using adobe premiere 6.5 - it captured file to the dard drive in an .avi format - the .avi file plays in windows media player in a widescreen format - used adobe premiere's internal mpeg convertor to convert the .avi to svcd format to burn the mpeg to svcd cdr using nero - the end result: people in the home movie were taller than normal - tried to encode the .avi file in a widescreen mpeg2 format so that the movie would play normal but nero would not accept the format to burn the svcd - said it needed to be re-encoded - ignored the warning and burnt it anyway but dvd player would not play it properly - 2nd time allowed nero to re-encode the file and nero did not burn the svcd in a widescreen format - what am I doing wrong ??? - how do I burn my home movies in svcd so the people appear normal ??? - any advice would be greatly appreciated since I would like to share our home movies with the family - Thanks for your help

The problem is that, first geta wide screen TV, if you have one good, the problem here is that the standard svcd format is 480*576 frame size (PAL) which appears on computers as a wierd stretched image, but when played on a widescreen TV is should appear normal, if not encode the mpeg, or DV file or whatever in to SVCD format using TMPgenc but experiment with changing the aspect ratio in the menus, then try playing them, if you have Ulead movie factory it has this excellent "simulation mode " which shows you have the final SVCD will look on your Tv, very useful, as you can experiment with differnt aspect ratios and see how it will look without buring the CD, and you will not need to use nero because ulead movie factory will author for you and you can even add backgrounds and chapters and music menus!!
