Well another memeber here, Titch71, suggested that a thread be started that would give instructions on which games need to have special things done to them in order to get the back up's to work. I also think this is a great idea. Once we get a bunch in here it can be useful to those who need help and cut back on repeat questions as long as it is put up as a sticky that you can still add to as new games come along.

And please just don't name the game, give instructions on how you burned it.

Bloodrayne 2
This game requires you to remove a garbage file.
1.Burn the ISO to your hard drive with your favorite program. Go to your hard drive and create a new blank folder for the next few steps.
2. open up the ISO with ISO Buster
3. extract the ISO to a new file you create on your hard drive (make note of the original file order!)
4. go to that file after extracted and remove the file called garbage
5. Use CDVDGEN to take those files, minus the garbage file, and create a new ISO file (once again making sure that all of the files are in the same order they were originally).
6. burn the new ISO

Mercenaries, yes Mercenaries so stop asking already.

1. create the ISO with your burning program and store it in a folder by itself on your hard drive.
2. Go and download the Mercenaries patch from DVDRick which you can find links by searching on AfterDawn
3. download the patch
4. unzip the patch
5. copy the patch into the folder where you put you ISO file
6. rename your ISO file ptc-merc
7. run the patch
8. burn the new ISO it created for you.

You will note that if done correctly the patch will take about 1/2 hour to complete. And the ISO it creates will be similar in size to the original ISO.

If it completes real fast and creates an ISO that is about 500KB then you did something wrong, most likely forgot to rename the ISO or renamed it incorrectly.

this is not may handy work,i have merely copy and pasted it over....all credit goes to the guys that posted it.....not me

For Mercenaries, if you own the title and are trying to backup the DVD so you dont have to scratch the original then you need to rebuild it just in "similar fashion" as the sample below. You dont need to change any files, just run isobuster and cd/dvd generator 1.20 or 1.50 (if you can find 1.50) then dos and burn.

THESE INSTRUCTIONS ARE FOR COPYING STAR WARS BATTLEFRONT FROM BARRY MAHOGENYA FROM AN EARLIER THREAD. YOU MUST HAVE DVD Decrypter, CDVDGEN, AND ISOBUSTER INSTALLED ON YOUR COMPUTER.

NOTE: THIS IS TALKING ABOUT STAR WARS SO RESPECTIVELY THE FILE NAMES ARE STAR.WHATEVER SO NAME YOUR FILE AS YOU WILL. AFTER RUNNING CD/DVD GENERATOR CHECK YOUR C: DRIVE TO SEE HOW MANY DIFFERENT FILES IT CREATED. WHEN YOU RUN DOS TO COPY AND ADD THE FILES TOGETHER, THEN ADD ALL OF THOSE FILES ON C: THAT WERE THERE. DONT NECESSARILY COPY WORD FOR WORD UNLESS YOU NEED A COASTER.

1) COPY THE PS2 GAME DVD TO YOUR HARD DRIVE AS AN ISO IMAGE.
a)OPEN DVD Decrypter.
b)IN THE DESTINATION AREA, CLICK ON THE FOLDER ICON TO CHOOSE BOTH A NAME AND A STORAGE LOCATION FOR THE ISO IMAGE.
c)CLICK ON MODE > ISO > READ.
d)CLICK ON THE DVD ICON TO START THE PROCESS.
e)WAIT UNTIL THE PROCESS IS FINISHED THEN CLOSE DECRYPTER AND GO TO STEP 2.

2) EXTRACT THE FILES FROM THE ISO IMAGE.
a) CREATE A NEW FOLDER ON YOUR HARD DRIVE TO STORE THE
EXTRACTED FILES.
b) OPEN ISO BUSTER AND CLICK ON FILE > OPEN IMAGE FILE.
c) NAVIGATE TO THE ISO FILE CREATED IN STEP 1 AND CLICK ON ?OPEN?.
d) HOLD THE CONTROL KEY ON YOUR KEYBOARD AND LEFT CLICK
EVERY FILE AND FOLDER IN THE LIST.
e) ONCE ALL THE FILES ARE HIGHLIGHTED, RIGHT CLICK ON ONE OF THEM AND CLICK ON ?EXTRACT OBJECTS?.
f) NAVIGATE TO THE NEW FOLDER THAT YOU CREATED ON YOUR
HARD DRIVE AND CLICK ?OK?.
g) WAIT FOR THE PROCESS TO FINISH THEN CLOSE ISOBUSTER.

3) CONVERT THE EXTRACTED FILES INTO 2 BIN FILES.

a) OPEN CDVDGEN.
b) SELECT ?CREATE NEW PROJECT? AND THEN SELECT ?DVD-ROM
MASTER DISC?. DRAG CDVDGEN TO THE LEFT SIDE OF YOUR
SCREEN.
c) NAVIGATE TO THE FOLDER THAT YOU CREATED ON YOUR HARD
DRIVE BACK IN STEP 2 AND OPEN IT ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF YOUR SCREEN.
d) SET THE WIDTH OF THAT WINDOW SO THAT IT IS ONLY 1 FILE WIDE. THIS WILL PLACE THE FILES INTO THE SAME ORDER AS THEY WERE ON THE GAME DISK BUT YOU SHOULD CHECK THEM FOR CORRECT ORDER JUST IN CASE.
e) CLICK ON EDIT > SELECT ALL.
f) DRAG ALL THE FILES INTO THE RIGHT SIDE OF CDVDGEN.
g) LOOK FOR A SLUS OR SLES FILE AND WRITE DOWN THE FULL NAME AND THEN CLICK ON THE ?VOLUME? TAB IN CDVDGEN.
h)TYPE SLUS OR SLES (WHICHEVER YOUR FILE NAME IS) INTO THE 1ST BOX NEAR "DISC NAME"
i) TYPE ALL OF THE NUMBERS FROM YOUR FILE NAME, WITHOUT THE PERIOD, INTO THE 2ND BOX.
j) TYPE PLAYSTATION FOR THE PRODUCER NAME AND SELECT THE APPROPRIATE LICENSE AREA.
k)CLICK ON "REC...".
l)SELECT YOUR DESIRED STORAGE LOCATION AND NAME THE FILE STAR.IML
m)YOU WILL GET 2 ERRORS, JUST CLICK OK FOR BOTH.
n)THE RECORDING SCREEN WILL POP UP, CLICK ON FILE > EXPORT IMAGE AND SAVE IT ON ONE OF YOUR HARD DRIVES (NOT IN A FOLDER) NAME IT STAR.LST
o) WHEN IT'S FINISHED, YOU WILL HAVE 2 FILES NAMED STAR.000 AND STAR.001
p)CLOSE CDVDGEN AND GO TO STEP 4.

4) MERGE THE .000 AND .001 FILES INTO A SINGLE ISO IMAGE.
THE EASIEST WAY TO MERGE THE FILES IS FROM A COMMAND SCREEN.
YOU WON'T HAVE TO INSTALL AN EXTRA PROGRAM THAT MAY NEED
EXTRA FILES TO WORK AND COME ON, ADMIT IT, DOS IS SO MUCH FUN!!
a)CLICK THE WINDOWS START BUTTON AND CLICK ON RUN.
b)TYPE CMD IN THE BOX AND HIT ENTER.
c)CHANGE THE DIRECTORY TO MATCH WHERE YOUR STAR.000 AND STAR.001
FILES ARE STORED.
EXAMPLE- IF THEY ARE ON THE C DRIVE, TYPE CD C:\ AND HIT ENTER.
IF THEY ARE ON ANOTHER DRIVE, TYPE THE DRIVE LETTER WITH A COLON AND HIT ENTER.
d)ONCE YOU HAVE THE CORRECT DIRECTORY-
TYPE COPY/B STAR.000 + STAR.001 STAR.ISO AND THEN HIT ENTER.
e)WHEN IT'S FINISHED YOU WILL HAVE A NEW ISO IMAGE NAMED STAR.ISO THAT YOU CAN NOW BURN IN STEP 5.

5) BURN THE NEW ISO IMAGE ONTO A BLANK DVD.
USE YOUR FAVORITE DVD BURNING UTILITY TO BURN IT AT THE
SLOWEST SPEED.

i take no responsibilty for you making coasters,in attempting this,as i dont know whether this is a fix for PAL or NTCS...I THINK ITS FOR PAL VERSIONS.....hursty

SHADOW OF ROME

same again, this in Not MINE,in anyway i dont want credit for this

Now for Shadow of Rome; is the same process as the first two but the only difference is that the images needed to be insatlled in a different order!

Yeah, the same is for the US version. Use isobuster but dont extract the dummy file. Instead make a notebook file with exactly the same name. Then when rebuilding put the files exactly in this order in CD/DVD GEN:

image0
modules
image1
image2
system.cnf
dummy.bin
sles_529.50 (or the slus file for US)

Use dos after that to make into iso= working game

NBA STREET VOL 3

same again,no credit to me,its not mine

For NBA Street VOL3 all you have to do is run isobuster and then put the files into CD/DVD GEN with the same order that they started in, after that rebuild through dos to create a new iso. Burn to DVD = working copy. There you go.

You wont have to rename files through notebook for NBA Street 3 like you had to do on bloodrayne 2. Follow the rest of the sample from the starwars game, at the top!

SWAPMAGIC FIXES...e.g HITMAN CONTRACTS

,it me again........and again credit is due elsewhere.....not to me

For Hitman Contracts you will need to go to swapmagicfix.com to download a patch file to a CDR.

*Boot SM 2.0 CD
*Use slide trick to upload the downloaded CDR from swapmagicfix
*Push eject boot SM 2.0 DVD
*Use slide trick to upload the backup version of Hitman Contracts,

Theres no need for the swapmagicfix download if your using SM 3.3

this applies to all games on swapmagicfix.com

I rebuilt Fight Night Round 2 and Tekken 5 and think that they load faster than burning a straight .iso.

use the same instructions as mercenaries above

(I know these will probably work without being rebuilt also)

Harry Potter & The Prisoner Of Azkaban

Rebuilding it will not help, but run the sonix dvd-scan on your extracted files and then rebuild it... Worked for me....

(stopped during loading with swap magic 3.3)

FIFA STREET....NTSC VERSION

taken from another thread

fix available here

http://www.freewebs.com/ptc-fs

1. Make a folder on your harddrive, doesn't matter which one, and name it FIFASTREET.
i.e. C:\FIFASTREET

2. Start ISOBUSTER and choose file, open image file, and choose your fifa street iso

3. Extract the files into your FIFASTREET folder. So now you've only got the extracted files in this folder.Size should be 1,65gb

4. Make a 2nd folder on the same harddrive and name it GGFR-FIFASTREET
i.e. C:\GGFR-FIFASTREET

5. Extract the "ggfr-FifaStreet.zip" (the patch) into this folder.

6. Press on the ggfr-FifaStreet.exe. Press the "readme"'button and after that press the "start" button.

7. When it's done you should have a new fifastreet.iso with a size of 4,34gb in your "C:\GGFR-FIFASTREET" folder

burn this iso using dvd-decrypter

this method does not work for PAL

Another Shadow Of Rome method
1.Get the DVDRick patch for your version (PAL or NTSC)
You need PPF-O-Matic 3.0 Open that program up, path to your .iso and path to the .ppf patch and hit apply, then exit and burn. Simple
Have not used this myself, but i have friends who have and it does work.

A great site for getting some of the mentioned programs, if you are a member that is, is in the site utilities section of http://www.ps2nfo.com

they may even have some of them in the software section on AfterDawn as well.

Champions: Return to Arms
Not a special burn, but a special loading proceedure.

do a CDLoader/DVDLoader 5v3 NO PN option to get it to boot.
1.load Swap Magic
2. when it asks for a disc use swap method to load DVDLoader
3.When DVDLoader screen comes up look for which button to press to enter the options menu, i forget which it is.
4.choose the 5V3 NO PN option
5.when it asks for a disc PRESS EJECT and put in your back up.
this should stop the loading problems.

depends nOun, if they are .rar files then you would not. like 20 files with Progressive numbers such as
filename.000, filename.001, filename.002
You would then get a program called Winrar and open the first file in the list in to Winrar.
Then use the extract button to extract the file into another folder, which you should create before you start. It should then give you an ISO file that you can burn.

try reading the 12 posts on here about it, that may help you find your answer. I remember reading the the ISO has to be extracted and rebuilt.
It was like 8gb in size and went down to 3.7gb after fixed. This post was intended for people to put the instructions for games like this and not to ask about them. But alass, no one is actually doing it, and it would be such a help just to have one post to read when you needed help burning a game.

What method of loading do these instructions require. I have a DMS3 chip in my PS2, and I didnt have to do anything special for mercenaries, NFSU2, champions: return to arms, etc. Are these instructions for all mod methods, or just for swap disc methods? Just curious as the only problems I have come across are champions of norrath and god of war because they are DVD9. All DVD-5 games should just work fine using dvddecryptor, right?

sorry that was my fault for not mentioning it.
It is for people who use swap magic. I just got a DMS4 Pro chip myself in my new PSTwo and love it.
I have not had one of those games that required rebuilding to try and copy yet to see if i can just make a strait up copy with no rebuilding that will still play on the DMS4 Pro. But i may just do it anyway since my older V7 i still use swap magic with and i would not be able to play it on the one.

I have burned Tiger Woods 2k5, NBA Live 2K5, NBA Street Volume 3, Mercenaries, Tekken5 & Mortal Kombat Deception using this method with 100% success.

You only need DVD Decryptor, ISO Buster & Nero

1)Extract the ISO using DVD Decryptor (ISO Read)
2)Open the ISO made with DVD decryptor with ISO Buster
3)Create a folder to put the files game files in
4)Extract the files using ISO Buster into the new folder. (select all and drag to new folder)
5)Arrange the files in the new folder so that they are in the EXACT same order as they appeare in ISO Buster.
6)Open Nero selesct DVD, then UDF/ISO
7)Under the UDF tab select "Force DVD video compatability mode"
8)Drag the files from the new folder into the Nero burning screen (in the exact order they appeared in ISO Buster)
9)Burn at 2X - 4X and your done.

**Note: Nero may reorder the files once they are in the burn screen but as long as you copied them in the exact order they appeared in ISO Buster then the burn will work.**
