This is my problem, if I'm posting in the wrong area I'm SORRY. I had a earlyer version of Nero installed and DVD Shrink worked great. I decided to install Nero v 6.6.0.8 and NeroVision v3.1.0.0 now when I burn a movie with DVD Shrink it will not play in my DVD player..it can't read it..why...it did before. If I insert it in my computer DVD player it works..what gives or H E L P....please

That is not Nero's problem. It is usually caused by the blank media you are using. What is the brand of blank media you are using?

It could also just be the movie you are backing up to rule out some possibilities try backing up a movie you have already backed up and you know it works. That could narrow it down a little.. You didn't happen to install InCD when you installed Nero did you? If you did that is a big no no when it comes to copying DVD's..

On my main machine I removed anything that has anything to do with Nero. I reinstalled Nero v6.6.0.8 with Nervision Express 3 SE 3.1.0.0. I then copyed a movie and inserted into my DVD player next to my TV and it worked.

I did the same thing with my other system, burned the same movie and instered it in my DVD next to my TV..I waited and the there was a message on the screen that said "No Read"..

Can anyone help with a answer why this is happening..thanks...for any reply.

Sounds like a media issue.. You could try updating the firmware for your writer to see if that helps. Probably need to invest in some good media though :-)

I have exactly the same problem with version 6.0.0.8 and 6.0.0.8a.

I have burned many, many discs with version 6.0.0.6 on datawrite grey 8x dvd-r. Then I installed nero version 6.0.0.8 and 6.0.0.8a. When I burn with these versions it creates discs which do not play on any of my dvd players. If I use the nero cleantool to remove the software and go back to 6.0.0.6 I can burn the same disc perfectly. I have swaped between these version about 5 times now doing various tests and version 6.0.0.8 consistantly fails, 6.0.0.6 works every time. Even using 4x datawrite yellow dvd+rw 6.0.0.8 fails and 6.0.0.6 works. I have logged this with nero and it has been passed to the programmers to check.

During the recode in verison 6.0.0.8 at one point it says that it is 'Burning Layer 2'... on a dvd-r? does this happen to other people using datawrite grey and nero 6.0.0.8?

If I play the discs in my dvd player it may play a little, then either freeze/ return to the player menu and on some occassions crash the player such that only switching off at the mains will bring it back to life.

I am using a NEC 3510 writer, a full copy of nero reloaded with everything installed. the only other software isntalled is dvdshrink and dvddecrypter.

The only help that nero support could give was to 'burn at once' rather than burning as an image but I do not want to do this as the discs are not as reliable.

Could someone try to reproduce this bug? Standard nero install of full product burning to datawrite dvd-r 8x using a nec 3510 drive using recode to create an image, then express to burn it.

Any help appreciated.

Pete

Does that mean you have InCD installed? That could be the root of your problems.. As far as it being a Nero version issue I'm not sure how that could be true because then you would have a lot more people having the same issues. I for one have upgraded to the newest version and never looked back. So it is probably not a Nero issue all together, but maybe another program on your system that is conflicting with the newer Nero version.

Now that I look at your Log I do see you have InCD installed.. You need to get rid of that proggy and use the InCD clean tool from there site to make sure you get rid of all traces of it.

Thanks for heads up on the serial no.

The first 3-4 times I installed the new version I only had the first 2 main packages installed, not incd or Nero player so I'm certain INCD is not the problem. I only installed it to see if it would fix the problem just in case there was a bugless dll in that package. Never use it normally.

Getting sick of Nero, the package before 6.0.0.6 had a bug in it too which was specific to my writer.

Would prefer fewer updates and better quality or at least be able to charge them for wasted discs.

Today I gave a lot of thought to my problem!! It worked fine with the early version so there has to be some major changes to this latest version. As we all know we all don?t use the same software, some like Nero, I myself like to use Roxio when I do my recording of music. The problem that I was getting was that Roxio ?Drag-To-Disc? was opening my DVD-Rom just a little bit too early. I removed the check mark from ?Drag-To-Disc? and everything is working. Thanks anyway for trying to help..

Clean out your old version and install Nero v6.6.0.8 & NeroVision 3.1.0.0, Install Nero v6.6.0.8 and when it finishes installing you will see three boxes to check, only check the top one. When the Icon shows up on your desktop open it and click on the word Nero in the left hand corner. Make sure that you got a key generator for the serial number, run the key generator, click on enter key and copy and past the key from the generator. Close everything and install NeroVision 3.1.0.0, a windows will open here you will click on select all. After all this is done reboot your computer and copy a movie?good luck. let me know how you?re doing.

Having Roxio and Nero installed together is almost always certain doom!!! That information earlier could have saved you a lot of time.. :-) Them two programs conflict with each other big time!! Also if you are planning on backing up DVD's at all all Packet writng software needs to be removed like Drag-To-Disk and InCD or you are going to have nothing but problems..

:-)

Bbmayo, thanks for the info, like I said in my earlier post everything worked fine until I updated to Nero v6.6.0.8 and NeroVision v3.1.0.0. I always had ?Drag-To-Disk? running and never gave me a problem on all 3 of my systems until the updates. As for InCD never installed it or use it.

Now with a lesson learned I will never troubleshoot without looking at my notes..

I decided to remove all of Nero v6.6.0.8 and NeroVision and installed a "OEM" that came with a burner that I bought for one of my clients. Since I did this there have been "NO" problems at all.

Some of the things we have to learn is that when Nero pots out newer version they remove a lot of the plugins so you have to buy them.

I only use Nero for DVD Shrink so I have to have it. For my recording music and vedio streaming I like Roxio Creator 7.

The other thing that I did was downloaded "Custom Startup" and found a crack for it, here I can disable "Disk-To-Drag". Every DVD that I copyed to date I have no problem and they work great.
