i would like to convert some svcds of mine to another format. i used vcdgear (i converted only vcds though) but now it shows some messages and doesn't launch. so i would like to know whether there is another way of converting svcds to divx, mpeg etc. i copied one svcd to my hdd and converted it with drdivx. but it worked only with that particular svcd.
plz help me, i am desperate.

Get virtualdubmod.
Open the mpg.
Select Video, compression.
Select DivX, and set your settings.
Click File, save AVI (or save as, avi).

ok, but the output AVI is far to large for divx compressing. it is about 700MB. can you tell me some configurations or tips? i think it is the sound that is not compressed to reduce the output file size.

and it is extremely slow. it took 1hour at fast compress for a 600MB SVCD.

Reduce the bitrate. Reduce the framesize to 320x240.

what exactly do you mean by reducing bitrate? i suppose you mean video bitrate in divx. how much should i reduce it?

in virtualdubmod i go: video -> compression -> divx 5.2.1 -> configure -> encode performance (i changed it to slow so as to have better compression. in video section (divx prog) i have enable resize 320x240 bilinear (very soft). are these setting ok?

but i think that virtualdubmod does not compress the sound at all because i still have an output AVI of 700+MB. what can i do?
