i had already installed the usb driver and after downloading Motorola Phone Tool 3.11 and had it installed. It can't see my V180 but everything is connected.I have modem connected to a router and my desktop is connected through an ethernet connection. When I opened the MPT, it was looking for a Modem and clicked NEXT and came out the USB, BlueTooth an Infrared. I chose USB but it stayed there, it is trying to look for my V180. What could be wrong with my setup. Thanks. :(

Im using to transfer files from my pc to phone PK2 program. Its funny how that program connects everytime and sees my v400 but the program that is sapposed to PhoneTools has a hard time. The onely thing I use MPT's for is my calender and phonebook book.

after opening the MPT 3.11 it would look for a modem and when it's already on the choose USB, BlueTooth and Infrared, I had chosen USB after connecting my V180 and a window will come out saying that it is looking for my V180 and after a long time you would see the analog timer that is saying that it is installing the software but after a long time too it didn't see my V180. It would show on the screen that it's initializing and a RED look like connection saying "No modem installed". :(

I've noticed some people having problems with the phone setup hanging whilst detecting the phone so I'd like to say how I overcame that problem.

While MPT is still trying to detect the phone (phone is connected by USB cable) go to your Device Manager (XP - START>R/click on MY COMPUTER>PROPERTIES>HARDWARE TAB>DEVICE MANAGER.

Look for the yellow exclamation mark next to your phone in the devices. Choose to update or reinstall driver. Leave phone and MPT running as they are (still trying to detect each other). Choose search a specific location for driver and direct it to the MPT directory (ie: C:\Program Files\mobile PhoneTools) and select OK.

Bingo, continue anyway thru any not digitally signed dialogues and the drivers will install. Upon completetion of that within 30 seconds MPT will find your phone and complete the setup. It will display initialising for up to a minute (do not do anything during this time with MPT, wait for it to initialise) and will then be ready to use.

I have successfully done this now 3 times on separate PC's for my own and 2 friends phones so I am confident that this will solve some installation problems.[quote/]

Peace!!!!!!!

it might help u!!

I had tried to install the modem while the MPT3.11 is searching for my V180 but still can't find it. The phone is still initializing.

I have xp will all updates except SP2. And when I had installed teh MPT 3.11 at the end of installing it when i was creating the icons an error came out :

Error 1406 : 0x80040707
Description: DLL Function Call Crashed:
PbkInstall._GetBookNames
Setup will terminate.

I had checked the device manager and under Modem the Motorola USB Modem is installed too. Maybe the error during the installation had a hand on this problem. What can I do to solve it? thanks.

okay, remove all the motorola drivers from ur computer through the safe mode and install them again, and install MPT 2.X not MPT3.x and check if it works, then if it works with MPT2.x update it from the live update.....

Hi. Here's an update. I had installed the Mobile Phone Tool to my notebook and it worked, 3.11 ver. I think the problem was my OS for my desktop. I was able to run the live update on the ver 3.11 and now I have 3.25b version. Thank you for the help. :)

It depends on what you want. You can access the function panel by clicking one of the buttons on the celphone window ( usually located on the top right ) and you can see the tools for media, ringtones and other features. Hope this helps. :)

How would I say now get a picture from my phone to my computer?

I only have version 2. something of mpt. I think i need the version 3.11, but I looked a lot and almost every link I ever clicked on was broken.
