Sony DW-D22A & Pinnacle

I've built a new P4 system with the Sony DW-22a & Pinnacle (Studio AV/DV Deluxe), Nero 6.6.0.8. This system is up to date on MS patches, Pinnacle and Nero updates. I can read one or two CDs before the system just locks up (this is an improvement and only after I applied the modifications listed below0). I've updated the firmware on the Sony DW 22A to the Liteon SOHW-1653s and still have the same problems. I've downloaded the registry updates for Pinnacle (CD-Recorder Update.reg) and still have the same problems. Is this a problem with the Sony drive or Pinnacle software. Should I switch to a real Liteon or Pioneer (108?) TIA
