Hi, i bought my laptop in taiwan, and i'm currently living in the US. I tried using DVD shrink to shrink an american DVD so i can burn it, but it says the region coding is different and it cant play it. Is there any way around this?
thanks

You can do this:
1. Use Hacked firmware (if available for the burner) to make the burner region free.- The only problem here is if you hack the drive that voids the warranty and if flashing the drive incorrectly it could make the drive toast
2. Change the code on the burner to region 1. You can change it 5 times
3. Rip the movie using what gamename stated or use DVDDecrypter

hey mike.car
if i use DVD Decrypter, i can rip the DVD even though it's a different region code even if i dont have AnyDVD? cos i THINK DVD Decrypter is free.whereas AnyDVD is around 40 bucks.

The region code is the least of your worries.. That DVD player will more than likely only play PAL DVD's and US DVD's are in NTSC format :-)

bbmayo,
Thanks for bringing that up as I forgot about the different formats. When you get to a certain age the brain cells dry up. LOL
