Hi i heard (while researching softmodding) that the reason the xbox doesnt play backups from the original dashboard is that they have to be signed in a certain way , i was just wondering if they were signed from a hardware point of view(ie. physically on the disc) or from a software point of view(possibly digital signing)

also if they are digitally signed why cant this be copied or faked

before you reply let me say i am aware that i have little to no knowledge of how this stuff actually works i'm just curious so try to be nice plz :)
