Hey there,

I have a Pioneer 109DL, P4 1.5, 256Ram, Win ME, DMA's are all on. When I'm burning using Nero 6, my buffer level at the bottom bounces drastically from about 5% to 95% during the burning process. Is this normal. My friend is using an LG burner and his buffer level stays between 95% and 98%. I was under the impression that the Pioneer was a very good burner.

Which buffer are you talking about the hardware or software buffer?

Sounds like you have something running in the background. Shut down ALL programs that auto start on boot up including anti virus programs. Then check for ad ware and spy ware also. Do not multi-task while burning or browse the web. That may help. Its probably not your burner, something is using your resources.

You might also try defragmenting your machine too. I noticed every couple of weeks my pc starts to bogg down. I defrag and zoom I'm off and racing again.
