Is this a good buy? I have a 16x burner, will I be able to burn dvd's quicker with 16x media?

I would get a little nervous on those. I bet they are fine. But they are made in taiwan. That usually means they are not the best media. I would be curious to see in like a year or so how well they play.

i've been using those media codes, in tubs of 25, 8x datalifeplus. So far i've burnt/watched many 100s of Verb's (at 4x). I've had tubs from Singapore, India & Taiwan without problem for months.

i just got some of these 16x verbatim dvd-r discs at best buy. when i checked the id it showed the max write speed as 8x. is this because my burner only burns up to 8x? no big deal either way. i don't burn above 4x anyway. i was just wondering if this is normal. btw media id=MCC 03RG20. very happy w/ that!

Yep fishbulb. I've replied to posts on this same media when members had 16x burners, and could only get 8x max on them, even after their firware updated.

I bought these disks and burned them at 16x with no problem. Took 8 minutes to burn a movie! Very happy!

Usually 8 minutes is an 8X speed and 5-6 minutes would be a 16X speed. But if the burn went well and everything looks good then that?s the most important thing. :)

I burn them at 4x, but have the capability to go to 16x. PI/PIF scan doesn't look too hot at 16x. It's acceptable at 8x.
