Hi,
I am trying to backup my original DVDs. All of them are DVD9. I want to be able to split the DVDs into 2 DVD5 disks, without compression, including the Menus & Extra Materials.

I still don't have access to DVD9 media.

Thanking you in advance
Enjoy!

ok, this is what i have done for films where the extras are actually worth watching:

:: go into dvd shrink
:: take all the extras as still images
:: leave main movie and main 5.1 audio intact -
:: remove all else (unless it uses subtitles)
:: burn
:: repeat but set the main movie as a still image and keep the extras

stick em in the dual disk dvd case and you have an extras disk and a movie disk...

There is a guide at my website called <A Guide for 1:1 DVD backup while keeping menus fully functional: By Sadsac> the link is in my signature. this way will keep your menus fully functional and allow you to keep the movie to no compression.

I however like babelfish's idea of having the main movie on one disk and all the extras on another. For the bigger movies though you could still end up compressing your main movie a lot, but with most movies bablefish's method would be fine. :-)

For longer movies you can also use DVD Fab a free program available with guide at this site

http://www.mrbass.org/dvdfab/

But I like babelfish's idea it is nice and easy.

DvdReMake will probably give you the most flexibility regarding what you can keep on each disk: http://www.dimadsoft.com/dvdremake/ud_dg_01.php

I agree that DVDRemake Pro is the most flexable but the learning curve is a bit steep if a person is new to all of this. I also use MenuEdit and Vobedit.

When I bacckup the main menu and main movie to disc 1 and the menu plus extras on disc 2, I then need to edit the main menus on both discs since there are now buttons that no longer link to the excluded content.
