My buddies PS2 takes atleast 30 tries to read the Swap magic disc DVD v2.0. His PS2 is a V1. I know the swap disc is good because it works fine on my Ps2 V7. Anyone have an idea of how to clean the laser, or if the laser cleaner disc works. Help?

flip the ps2 over and take out all the screws on the bottom. then flip it back over and lift the lid off. take the 4 tiny black screws out that hold the cover on over where the game is. then to clean the laser get a q-tip with some rubbing alcohol on it and swab the laser.

The PS2 is already apart and I tried that easy fix with no success. The laser is worn. Also you guys think that the Swap magic 3.3 would work?

Just do a laser replacement,the PS2 V1 lasers are really weak no lie.It depends on what your laser is though.The PS2 has two types of lasers,one is open face,and the other is closed.Try to make sure you get the right type of laser.
