Tried three times on DvdDecyrpter and DVD Shink to backup Finding Neverland, the disk seems to stop at 51%, and keeps making skipping noises. It basically stops burning at this point. Help!

I use AnyDVD in the background, and Nero Recode2 and burn just the movie with menus. It is easy and very little compression that way on a DVD5.

Just download the free 21 trial of AnyDVD by clicking on the blue link.

Just open up AnyDVD,then it will run in the background. You'll see an icon on the tray on lower right corner. It will run in the background to help DVD Shrink pull of the encryption. When you see that little red fox icon, then use DVD Shrink the same normal way. You won't even know it's running.

This is one of the few program that is highly recommended for about the $40 price. It's updates are very frequent.

Creaky is correct. I backed this up last week(us version) with shrink and Nero. I don't think AnyDVD will help in this case. The problem is either with the disc or your system setup. JStat didn't mention if it stoped during the initial analizaion, deep analization, encoding or bunring process.

Just backed up neverland using shrink no problems.
Had same problem with Grudge though. Used decrypter and had an error, but I just ignored it and went on right through and worked perfect.

i imagine we all have the latest 3.2.0.15, not updated anymore as i read the author now works on Nero Recode or similar. What i forgot to add is this has been around quite a while..

Oh alright, yeah thats the one I'm working on. I don't know what the problem is. When I do older movies, it runs perfectly, but when I try to do the newer ones, I always seem to have a problem. I had heard that they were using new algrithims to code the DVDs and that some of the software couldn't break it, but I guess thats not the case for Shrink if you just did it.

So, yes there are new pesky protections sneaking their way onto our dvd's. DVD Shrink is no longer being updated, however decryptor is, and there's stuff like AnyDVD that can help also...

the buggers and their damn protections!

Yeah. Thats real strange. Some of those I had problems with and other ones I didn't (Ray, Friday Night Lights). Oh well, I have the Any DVD thing now, so that should work with Shrink, and I finally did get the Neverland to go. Thanks again.

I updated DVD Decrypter, and it worked just fine with no problems. Then, I used DVD Shrink to reduce the 7.57 gb video into 4.36gb. Everything seemed fine, until it stopped backing up at 51%?!

This is very unusual, it worked just fine on my dvd-rw, but on my dvd-r it did not work. My dvd's are Memorex, so they are not some cheap media.

I'm just wondering what the problem is. I also used AnyDVD in the background, and still it doesn't work.

Any ideas why it works on dvd-rw and not dvd-r.

hot_ice,

I believe that if you do a bit of searching here on aD you'll find that Memorex is one of the worst media's you can purchase. This is more likely part of the problem.

I've done this movie with Sony 8X DVD-R media using AnyDVD in the background to fool Nero about the encyption, and I burned, Movie Only with Nero Recode 2 using advanced analysis which produced a perfect burn. :)

@Hot_ice, just try Shrink on it's own, and maybe do movie only, there's no odd protections on this film (not on region 2 anyways)

You don't need AnyDVD With this movie. DVD Decrypter and shrink will do it

Your problem is somewere else

Jetster

If it isn't Sony Encryption then you don't even need DVD Decrypter, just DVD Shrink. Since I use Nero Recode2, and this does not have a built in decrypter like it's sister DVD Shrink, (Recode 2 was created by the same person,) another decrypter is necessary such as AnyDVD which runs in the background. It is also faster this way, the total time it takes to from start to finish.

I did'nt know Recode 2 was faster then shrink. I will have to try it. I just use decrypter to burn after shrink.
