Does anyone have the swap discs v 3.3 for the slim line Ps2. I'm thinking about buying them but I don't want to void my warranty by opening the PS2. So dones anyone know how they work?

How they work? They are boot discs. Basically, you just load a SwapMagic disc, it prompts you to swap with a backup, you use one of many swap methods to put in your backup disc, and hit 'X'.

The only important part is the way you swap out for your backup disc. The ps2 must not recognize that a swap is being made. So there are many ways to get around this:
-replacement fliptop
-slimtool,ghost switch,magic switch
-tape mod
-modchip

I will get the slimtool and the swap discs but a few more questions.

Is the slimtool easy to install and does this let you play import games?

And does the Swap Magic discs read dual layer DVD/games?

This version of SwapMagic cannot yet load dvd9 games. I don't use the slimtool, but i believe it's the best of it's kind. (slimtool, ghost switch, magic switch)

You can play imports, yes.

yea, slimtool is the best of its kind and the best solution for ps2, used along with swapmagic.

but dont waste money buying slimtool, make your own in under five minutes, i have posted a thread on how to make it yourself in under 5 minuts and saves a lot of money, it only needs a "straw, toothpic, wad of tape" to make, very cheap and easy

Scott, the tape mod is not worth the hassle. Get a magic switch. $3 and your good to go. It's a beautiful thing.

I have been looking at these switches and where are you finding them for 3 dollars?
I have seen them for 10 but not three.
