I used a sony DRU 700 first with sony handycam dvd-r (mini) and they work perfect in my GC.
But my bro's GC can't read em.

I believe I opened a thread like this in the past and we concluded that IT DEPENDS ON YOUR GC.
Some read em some don't.

If your GC can't read em try tweaking your laser and try again.
Tweaking the laser isn't that hard.
Opening up a gc is a pain in the *ss

Just wondering around

there is many compatability threads around the web, and surveys, here's one: http://gamecube.nqtnews.com/

And about mine:
GC DOL-001
burner, Matshita(Panasonic) DVD-RAM SW-9581 (what a name, Matshita =)
Ritek G04(Ridisc) (dont know manufacturer, DVD-drive not support DVD identifier)
And i burned at 2x with burn protection disabled
games work good.

The future is not set. Theres no fate but that which we make for ourselves.

Platinum 8x DVD+RW works fine
Memorex 4x DVD-R (8cm) doesn't work

If that's what you concluded, then you're missing most of the facts. The GC drive plays a factor, but compatibility between media and burner are the biggest factors.

Anyway, I have a Sony DRU-710A. It hates ridata ritek dvd-r G04: PI/PO errors all over the place and many dres in most games.

Switched to memorex dvd+r G04: low PI/PO errors and not one single dre since. memorex dvd-r prodisc work good as well.

Edit: laser OHMS adjusted to about 190.

I use a DRX 710UL Sony, does what i need it to do very well.

Media:
Optodisk Mini dvd-r (GARBAGE~!!!) not a single one worked.
Verbatim Digital Movie Mini DVD-r Work well.
Msonoic Full sized DVD+R, works the best, yes it's a big disk, but with the new cases comming out, DVD+R's is got to be the way to go.

Funny thing is that I know Pusky and I have the same optodisc blanks, but they don't work well for me.

None of my burns have worked and the ones Pusky burned for me boot but then get frequent DRE's.

My original laser setting was 196 and I lowered it to 184 (no diff).

If I take off the cover and use full-size Ritek G05's (thought I have G04's but Nero says that are G05), everything works fine.

I think the solution for me might be to break into Pusky's house and steal his Cube...

If G04/G05's work well for you then stick with those. No need to envy his cube;)

I bought a few games burned onto Ritek G05 x4 DVD-R printables and they work fine... no DRE's... but when I bought a load of the same discs and they DRE all the time... i used DVDidentifier and they both have the same codes and stuff...

Oh his looked slightly better quality, the printable film on top was always bang on center, whereas mine was often uneven, and it span a little off center cos of that...

Has anyone found any mini DVD+R's?

I'm not quite willing to pull the cover or tweak the laser quite yet.

no there are none as of yet.

Optodiscs work great on my system DOL-101, no dre's, look for a firmware update for your burner, if there is none, then it could also be your burner.
