That's my favorite thing about SM, being able to take it wherever you want. Even when I get my mod, I'm still keeping SM.

Hi ...All this talk about Swap magic. Well...I think its great. For me...well...I have had problems. Maybe you guys can help. I have posted this before ...but never really get a good answer.So...i'll ask again and hopefully the last time. :-) I have Swap 3.6 For some reason my playstation V5 does not want to read the "DVD" Swap Disk very well. Spins and clicks...spins and clicks. After several attepmts it will work. Its just frustrating. Now I can load the "CD" Swap and it loads perfect everytime! No problem. But the dvd disk...well just dont want to load. I have tried 3 different disk in mine. Same thing. I have tried my disk in a friends...works fine. Any suggestions? And by the way...Swap Magic is great. But If i can not resolve this I may try a chip. But would rather stick to Swap Disk! :-) Thanks for any help. This site is very Helpful and is a great site! Keep it up!

The other reason I would say Swap Magic is pretty good to use,is the install for certain modchips can lead to damage if you are not carefull when messing with them.I also agree with being able to carry the discs around,and using it even if I had a mod.I probably would still use it if I had a modchip,just disable it and use my flippy method ;).I can only think of a couple things that could be your problem maybe your laser KEGNFOOL.It could have problems reading certain media or it might need to be cleaned or adjusted.It could be one of these problems,but it sounds like the laser to be honest.

i have tried cleaning it. I used a dvd/cd cleaning kit on it. Did not help. Here is the thing. It plays all original games, dvd movies...even when i do get swap to load, it even plays the backups perfect. So how can it be my laser/lens??? If it plays everything else perfect! Its just that DVD swap disk it can not read. It will read the "CD" swap perfect everytime smooth sound reading it. But dvd disk...is noisy. So i diont think its the laser/lens issue. But who knows. Im just frustrated. :-(

I don't know if it's me, but when my V7 has problems reading the DVD of Swap Magic (or DVD-R backup), I put in an original DVD based game and play it for like 15-30 minutes, then I load in SM and it works fine.

Well if you used a Cd/Dvd disc cleaner that could be the reason for the disc read errors.Have you ever looked at the disc cleaners for lasers,there are brushes on the side of the discs that can scratch the laser.The lens in the PS2 systems are really delicate,so there is a chance your lens probably got scratched making it hard to read the discs.The other thing is probably your Swap Magic disc,but you said you used it on one of your friends and it played perfect.So I think it has to deal with your laser to be honest.Actually you are dealing with the issue pretty good I think,but I honestly think it is the laser or you could try replacing the lens.I had a similar problem before,could only read PS2 Dvd/Cd games but whenever I tried to play a movie it just froze and gave me black screens.The cause came from the disc cleaners,I am just guessing on this though or you could put some tape on the sides of the Swap Magic disc on the top to give it more weight.That might help you out also,but it is just a guess.I can normally figure it out if I have a good view of the problem.Oh and try out Ofnir1 method also,that sounds like a good idea to try out also.

First of all i own a mod- chip and when i go 2 my friends or relatives house i breing my ps2 with me. How want to take there gay swap MAgic anf f up sum1 elses ps2 if my friend or reliative came 2 my door with a swap magic i would kick them out

it's easier for most people to haul a disc than a ps2--and it's much easier on the wallet if you break it. not hard to see why you're inactive now, eh?

Same exact thing for me on my V6. It doesn't make sense to me at all, but it works. It's like you have to warm the PS2 up or something. Haha. When I first started using the swap magic dvd disc it would always take 3 or 4 tries to load (which pissed me off), or I'd have to do that warm-up thing by playing an original game for a few minutes, but after using it more often it has been loading on the first try every time now. It's very strange. I'm happy that it is working on the first try now, though. :)

I recon the problem you have been having with SM is your using it with a modchip.. Why would you buy both a modchip and a swap magic, it doesnt make much sense to me, you should either buy an independent modchip or SM and A slidetool or Fliptop.
I dont know if this makes sense but if you double the components you need to boot your games, your going to get twice the rate of possible failure.
Im currently using SM with a slide card and i think its great, no problems yet, and all my games work flawlessly.
However i am waiting on my newly purchased modchip to arrive, but i still will hold onto my SM, its great because its portable.
Besides this thread really should be closed, its just a stupid log of insults and raged messaged. The forum is for commenting and discussion, not flaming and stupid arguments about how much something "sucks".
Everyone is intitled to there own opinion.
So grow up

kegnfool ive been reading alot on here and alot of people agree with you about your smd-dvd 3.6 disc not working it maybe faulty just like the swapmagic 2.0 cd that i have it takes 5-10 attempts just to get it to work. im now worried that when my smd3.6 arrives in the post that it may not work well. will let you know in a week.
also to GOGETTA 244 how do you think you will go when YOU want help, and no one will reply to you. silly boy.
