I dont know why you people are so obsessed over swap magic. Most of the time it freezes or doesnt load when you swap. The gameshark method is the best way to go. It will never freeze and will load any backup or import including ps1 games which swap magic can't do. The shark is clearly better than magic bottomline.

For the best quality mp3s use EAC (exact audio copy) to rip your audio CDs and LAME to encode them. Follow this guide:

The reason it freezes is because if you're using the fliptop cover and don't set the disc in flatit won't load. Took me a while to find that out. There is an extra little ridge that it gets stuck on. It's always the user never the machine. lol

I don't use the flip top loader. I can't remember what mod chip I have, but its the one that connects inline with the ribbon cable for the power/reset buttons

^6 months swap magic still works great!

Im sure user error plays a part in your troubles as
i have never had any with swap magic disks.

But if you want to force swap with gs thats on you,
But dont come here telling people its better because
you can work the s.m. discs properly.

GS are pretty great for old PS2 consoles but for us that have the new slimline PStwo, the SM works flawless.

get it..?

yeah i agree to you that SMD are sucks.....

Surprise Surprise I see you did not Read Even One Warning or Sticky at the top did you well heres one:
Quote:
I have noticed a trend in quite a few threads that have been bothering the hell out of me. It is a simple cure and I will deal with it right now.

If you have NOTHING nice to say OR helpfull to the person(s) asking, DO NOT REPLY. I will no longer tolerate replies like

a) Swap Magic discs are a pain in the...

b) Get rid of that stupid chip and get a real one...

c) Flip tops suck they never work...

d) Magic chips suck...

e) Get a real chip like Messiah...

Etc. Etc. Etc. This is a forum where people ASK questions and would like decent, honest and impartial answers.

I had to go into a few threads and remove such replies as above and give UNBIASED answers to people who came here looking for help.

If you have had problems with a certain chip or mod, that does not mean EVERYONE will.

Please be more insiteful when replying to a thread, remember it could be a Grandparent or Mother asking for help on a topic they know nothing of!

Just use a bit more respect and common sense to others. Not everyone can afford a $120 mod, and not everyone has the resources to solder, let alone put a $200 dollar PS2 in jeopardy.

If I see more of such replies I will give a warning (unless I have already done so, which I have to a few members) I will start banning people, because rplies like those only lead to arguements and flaming.

Nah, Swap Magic's great. It's a cheap alternative to modchipping, it's relatively painless, it's the easiest to install, and it has an amazingly high compatability rate.

I've yet to have a single problem with it.

And since we're discussing things that suck : What's with the ads in the threads? Weird. I guess they thought that ads on the top of every page wasn't enough.

there is a topic started by drD in the news and announcements forum. the ads are just a test for a few months to see how they work, they are not permanent. I use swap magic in conjuction with a solderless mod chip and its a great combo.

edit 4 typo

i agree, close this down. swap magic works just fine. I have been using it for a while now, both 2.0 and 3.0 and have never had a problem.
I also have a flip top and have never had it freeze on me, your disc must be bad.

Well I think a modchip is a hassle. Much more of a hassle than using a gameshark disc.

Hahaha lol do what you want with Swap Magic discs, but I doubt anyone will follow.I have been using Swap Magic for 3 or so years, beats the hell out of GS2 and AR2 method to be honest. You have to think about it this way,you are doing something wrong that is not making it work.Look at how many people have success with the discs, then question yourself again. If you can't figure out what your problem is(which normally is nothing big),then you probably shouldn't be messing with the discs to begin with.Modchips are alright, but a boot discs is alot safer than a modchip.Everyone has there own way of booting there PS2 backups,if it didn't work for you then move on and try a different method.Once you find a method that works for you, stick with it and don't worry about what others use to boot there backups.

consider this: SM can be carried around and used on your friends' ps2's, on your relatives' ps2's...even on another ps2 of your own. you can't really just rip a modchip out one unit and easily toss it in another.
