I ran into a problem I backed up the game a bit differently than I have read in these forums my method is I use UltraISO to back it up which make the 7.94 GB ISO file that everybody is familar with then I convert it using UltraISO to a nero file it is 3.97GB then I burned it at 8x. Now the problem is I get to the part of the game where you goto the temple on top of the Titan Cronus and the game freezes before I can get the save point now I dunno if it my method or the speed I burn it at. It shouldnt matter how fast I burn at because the game worked that far now remember I do have a modchip and I do not use Swap Magic so I don't have to patch it. So does anyone know what is wrong?

Your missing the pak2 files files from layer 1.
There is a tool at ps2nfo.com but i cant get it
for 5 days.
Without the pak2 file everyone has been freezing during level 4.
You can use apache 2 to extract layer 1 from the .iso
but you will need the tool also.
All are available at ps2nfo.com,
But until i find someone thats already registered
i have to wait 5 days to be able to download the tool.

The tool works !!!!!!
Here is a copy of SONIX instructions!!!!!
Much props to SONIX!!!

Extract both layers of the dvd9 into the same directory.
Run the tool click browse, select the GODOFWAR.TOC file and click extract button.
Sit back and wait....
Once all files have been extracted you may notice that the total size of files extracted is smaller than the two large files, this is because there are many dupes inside the large files.
To make a working dvd5 backup, delete all files with the extension *.PSW and delete all the BONUS*.PSS files too. That should leave you with a folder size of about 3.5GIG.
Run the tool again, select the GODOFWAR.TOC file and click rebuild button.
Sit back and wait...
After a while the relink screen will popup, first, click the 'Auto-Relink Dupes' button and that will take care of most of the relinking.. the rest of relinking needs to be done manually. Relink all the *.PSW files to their *.PSS counterparts, e.g.
relink A01P01.PSW to A01P01.PSS. Relink all the missing BONUS*.PSS files to any available PSS file you want.
Once all files are relinked you can close the tool.

You will now have 2 new files in the game folder:
GODOFWAR.TOC_NEW
PART1.PAK_NEW

Delete the original PART1.PAK, PART2.PAK and GODOFWAR.TOC files and rename the new files to remove the _NEW from their names. Delete the 'Extracted' folder.
Build the new iso in the usual way, burn and play this awsome game!

P.S. No files need patching for dvd9 checks.

All the Credit goes to SONIX his website is:
http://www.backuptools.co.uk/

I can confirm the method works.
IT DOES NOT WORK ON THE HDD.
Im not sure why but was posted on PS2nfo.com
as not working on the hd (POSTED BY SONIX).

I can confirm that it works with swap magic 3.3
and does not freeze up at stage 4.
However all bonus movies will be removed.

You have to use apache 2 to extract both layers.
The files must be placed together and fully
extracted (not in .iso form).

Iso-buster will not work as it wont extract the
second layer.

A complete .iso of 7.97gb is what you need to
extract both layers.

re-link the file P00MP02.PSW to P00MP02.PSS.

you have to do that for the .psw files that you
deleted. as well as the bonus files.

If your still having problems i suggest you
post on SONIX website.
