i use nero 6 to burn dvd but i use it once next time i turn it on the nero burner tells me that the device is in use by another application, i use an external dvd burner and am a total novice , any advice would be welcomed

try reload the program with your burning pluged it to the pc so Nero can read the drive

hi

sounds like either Nero is not unlocking tray after use or another app is running holding tray acesss?

try removing apps for cd/dvd buring you arnt useing anymore!

got any error messages apart from in use from another app etc?

also click ctrl-alt-delete to get the processes window up and turn off either Nero or any other app and load Nero again!
