Hunted around and can only find mentions of a patch/loader being needed for streaming it. I've had no luck with the .gcm backup being streamed, though the demo works just fine.

why not just burn it to a DVD+R and play it using GCOS1.4.. I have it running fantastically that way.

Still waiting for a gamebit to arrive. Besides, a hard drive with all my games ready to stream is a lot less costly than trying endless brands of DVD media.
I don't know, someone claimed to have the patch/loader and all I want to know is if it really exists yet. I find streaming much more technically interesting anyway.

Traxdata mini DVD-Rs for Camcorders (4x disks but need to write them at 2x for GC) seem to work flawlessly in all GCs I have tried them in.
YMMV

To take the system apart, use a clear bic pen and a lighter. Works great.
Using any DVD+R full 4.7 gig disk works great, the problem is the fact that the GCN doesn't read dvd-r's well
If you don't want to have your gcn open when you play, they are releasing a full sized dvd case soon.

Slight confusion; 99% of posts seem to refer to DVD-R when talking full sized disks. Are DVD+R's more likely to be compatible..?

dvd+r are better, cause the bootcode is editable, that means you can burn it,and the pc-drives,dvd-players or the gamecube think it is a dvd-r or dvd-rom

Yes the Gamecube has a much higher compatibility with the DVD+r's
The reason we talk so much about dvd-r's is cause the mini's are all -r

Ah, excellent. My gamebit just arrived this morning and I have a healthy supply of Verbatim 8x cert DVD+R discs that I thought would be useless for it. Burning a test disc at 2.4x and these have always worked perfectly with PS2 stuff. Let's just hope my crappy MSI burner holds up.
(Burning just finished... away I go!)

F*CK ME! (And various other exclamations)
My very first attempt with one of those discs (for the record PAL unmodded Cube 001 model - lid switch held down with blue tack). Booted PSO and ran GCOS1.4, and Four Swords USA import backup is running like a charm from the disc.
Technically stunning. Never thought I'd see it done. Kudos to all who made this possible. Incredible work. :)
Just hope the less tech-minded mainstream "Ooh! Now I can run free games!" people don't catch on too soon. I have no time or patience with pirates. Nintendo is the one company that truly deserves our money.
