I was wondering if anyone has made a backup of timesplitters 3 future perfect.
I have never had a problem backing any other game up and i am doing this in the same way. But after swap magic loads up the blue border it just goes to a black screen and stays there.
i am using good dvds that are always fine for games.
My swap magic dvd version is 2.0 i dont know if there is any update to that, maybe that could be the problem.

have you tried loading it with CDLoader or DVDLoader?
I know the new Swap Magic 3.3 supports PAL games because it has screen settings for it. Not sure about 2.0 though.

Yep, Black screen of death for me also, will try DVD+R Media as DVD-R don't seem to be working for me lately at all. I have SM 3.3 and use good quality discs.

Is it still possible to play backed up games on the new PS2 Slim. Swap magic and slide tool etc.

Can someone let me know.

i modded my slim ps2 with the tape mod, but i got it really early and there was no other choice.
Slim tools is good and really easy todo even though the instructions i used make it look harder then it actually is.
The only problem with slim tools is the ps2 has to be open at all times, bit annoying.

And for everyone who cares i got my backup of ts3 working becuase i bought a newer version of swap magic.

I'm struggling here. The NTSC version I have works fine on my PAL PS2 but when I try the PAL copy it just stays on the black screen. (By the way, I have to get a PAL version because the TV I play my PS2 on is old and doesn't support NTSC signal)

I tried burning CogSwapLoader or whatever swapmagicfix says to do but I just get a bright red screen after I boot it with SwapMagic 3.0 CD. Help?

my timesplitters 3 only owrked with dvd version 3.3 it just stayed at the black screen with version 2.0.

If your trying 2.0, have a look at upgrading.

If not then see what happends if you leave the black screen a little while longer.
Also try burning it at a slower speed and maybe look at a better quality dvd.

I have brilliant backups of both timesplitters 3 future perfect and metal gear solid 3.
both times i just used dvddecryter to copy the iso and Nero to burn the image at 8 speed.
my ps2 is version4 with a fliptop and swapmagic 3.3..
I've found that it helps to burn the image at a higher speed, I too had those sort of problems when burning at slower speeds sometimes... sometimes the backup would load very slowly, had faults with cgi etc.... don't get them now using above method.

hope that helps

It's not laziness mate, it's me having no money. ;)

I guess I'll try getting Swap Magic 3.x I'm in the UK so if anyone can suggest the best place to prevent draining my pockets I'd be grateful.

once you read through some of these ps2 forums, why would you still want to get swap magic? i've seen atleast 2 dozen people have problems with different games with swap magic that work absolutely perfect for me.

you can actually get a mod chip for less than swap magic. check out some websites

i would recommend the duo se chip. it's one of the easier ones to install

try www.ps2laser.co.uk - i got my fliptop and swapmagic 3.3 from there for around £33 with the postage.
The last poster was probably right when he said that it might be cheaper to get the modchip, but that's if you wnat to mess around having to completely dismantle it etc and void your warranty, if you still have one that is.
Every game i've backed-up, except pandora tomorrow has worked perfectly for me with sm3.3 and fliptop.
I personally was going to get a modchip, as I know a fair bit about electronics - but couldn't find anywhere in the uk that supplied them and didn't want to order from the US because wasn't sure of compatability with PAL ps2. anyway, i'm happy with how mine works... had about 30 back-ups with no probs.

That Duo 2se seems pretty cheap. Is it complicated to install? I mean...would I have to shell out to have it installed? My dad could probably solder something if it wasn't too difficult.

i've had one in my ps2 for over a year & alot of my friends also have this same chip, no problems. i believe you have to solder 17 points with the duo se chip. most chips require around 25 points.

yeah, there are cheaper and more expensive chips out there. this one is about the middle of the road i guess, but never heard of any issues with it.

It seems pretty cheap on that site you linked to. I think I'll put an order in. Oh, just wondering. Is it possible to play backups online using that chip?
