i just got a new slim ps2 for xmas and i read all these threads and managed to softmod my ps2 without screwing it
and i also managed to get SM 3.3. i backed all my games up with DVD decrypter and everything but i think i used higher speed dan sugested, the games work but the ps2 seems to make more noise wen tryng to read them.
anyway my question is, does it affect the ps2 and burn out the laser if i play these games?

cheap media and/or burning at higher speed forces the ps2 to work harder to read the disc. So, yes, it will shorten the life of your ps2 laser.
