I've been using NeroVision Express for encoding and burning and it seems like the image playback from the burned DVD is cropped. Almost as if the 4:3 image has been pan and scanned even more and everything is in-your-face. I know that Im not getting the full image here and would like any pointers on fixing this. Try a different program?

Sure. DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter are free and they should work better for you. There are guides available in the guide section and our friend Bbmayo has some too.

im working with .avi's and .mpegs, not copying DVD's. I download a file from the net and transcode the file, burn it, and all my titles are cropped.

At the NVE 'add video file' screen, click 'more' at bottom to reveal 'video options'. Set the desired video properties there.
Good luck!

hmmm..this time I tried burning a widescreen movie through NeroExpress after encoding the files to DVD format through DVDSanta. I checked the 16:9 widescreen video output but there is still cropping. I used the demo version of DVDSanta and the message that stays on during play only reads "mo version of DVDSanta." The "De" in "Demo" is cut off.

hi

this is a new one on me...

720*304 (2.21:1), DX50 = DivXNetworks Divx v5, Supported

DX50? looks like a special/new type file ext...

i wonder if you got the best codecs for this type file? on your computer? for encoding / playing etc...

also does the file play ok as an AVI? (no cropping?) you can use TMPGEnc PLUS to convert it to dvd complaint mpeg2 and use either TMPGEnc dvd author or DivxTodvd (free) to make vob/ifo/bup, TMPGEnc is a good convertor...

Nothing here to see, move along folks.

hi

dx50 is fourcc code for the DivX5.xx codec - you can download the Standard (free) DivX 5.1 codec from here:

http://www.divx.com/divx/

also i think that the latest version FFDSHOW will be kool for DX50

Nothing here to see, move along folks.

someone else told me it was because of the overscan on my tv which is what im believing. A little $200 19" tv. All my DVD's seem in-your-face and image cut off. That's the theory Im going with I guess..
