I burn dvds with x copy onto Memorex DVD+Rs and they work great on my ps2. I can use the same dvds to burn my ps2 games, right? Or is there a better brand for ps 2 games using +R?

I assume you're talking about movies backing up well on Memorex. Ps2 games require a better disk most of the time...for instance, i use Teon brand media for movies, but they don't work for game backups.

If they work then great, but if they skip, try a different media.

If you have a newer ps2 (v5+), you shouldn't have a problem with +r, some older model ps2's have a history of not playing +r's, and require -r

I did a lot of reading prior to backing up my games. A lot of different media works good but most of the posts that I have read suggest Taiyo Yuden or Ritek Ridata G4. I have used both and I have had better luck with Taiyo Yuden 8x.
