Ritek +R/W discs stop erasing

I can't find any other thread on this subject.

I have just started using Ritek "Excellent" -R/W 4x DVD's but I find after about 4 or 5 cycles It refuses to Erase.
The old material is still on the disc in its entirety & when you try to erase it comes up with an error.

Anyone else having trouble with these discs. What happens to them.

How do I reformat a DVD -R/W disc?

if like a cdrw, you have to format to do a drag & drop so presuming same with dvdrw disks but not certain as i don't have a dvd burner yet
