How do I compress a movie so I can fit it into a DVD-r 4.6 gig? Instead of splitting it into 2 Dics. Thanks in advance

Hey Moody0000,

You can use a program called, DVD Shrink.

It is available at Dawnload.net. It is really easy to use and should serve your purpose. Also, you might want to use this:

Hope this helps!

Is this a dvd rip, or a movie downloaded off the net?
If its a rip from an original dvd,all you need is 2 programs DVD Decrypter, and DVD Shrink.(both free)
Here are some guides for the newbie

Why my friend venom gave you a guide to join avi's is a puzzler to me LOL

Keep in mind that manufacturers quote the capacity of a writable DVD disc in decimal (base 10) rather than binary (base 2) notation so a 4.7 GB disc stores 4.7 billion bytes [4:700,000,000 bytes ÷ 1000 = 4,700,000 KB ÷ 1000 = 4,700 MB ÷ 1000 = 4.7 GB] . Expressed in binary notation (as is typical with CD-R, CD-RW and most operating systems) the same disc has a capacity of roughly 4.38 GB [4:700,000,000 bytes ÷ 1024 = 4,589,844 KB ÷ 1024 = 4,482.27 MB ÷ 1024 = 4.38 GB] .

no probs .You might consider trying CloneDVD and slysofts AnyDVD in tandem. This program will be able to accomodate you and you can alter the compression ratio as you see fit.The other programs suggested are on equal par and which ever you choose will see you with a completed project

use DVD Shrink. i still use DVD Shrink 2.3 to rip the movie and then Nero 6.6 to burn it. I think that the new DVD Shrink versions, rip the movie and burn it.

dvd shrink does not, nor did it ever burn.It works in conjuction with Nero,or DVD Decrypter, to auto-burn.
