You can make a backup copy for your own use but if you give it to someone else they don't have to buy it themselves which violates the purpose of copyright laws.

do a search for isobuster... there are several threads on here which will tell you how to backup mercenaries.
quick version:-

dvddecrypter
isobuster
cdvdgen
dos
nero

it took me about 40-60 mins in all from start to finish, a lot less time than downloading an image file of around 1.88gb... plus you will then know how to do it in future if there are any games that need rebuiding. take some time to learn this stuff - it's worth it in the end.
I am a newbie myself, just joined today in fact.. but have spent a month or so just reading things on this forum. which by the way has been very helpful, thankyou all for your help.
