DVD won't play on laptop

I use DVDx copy platinum to back up my dvd's and they play fine in my dvd player and on my desktop. However, they will not play in my brand new Gateway laptop. The original movie playw without a problem, but not the backup copy. I have used PowerDVD and it will not recognize there is a DVD in the drive. Why does the burned dvd play everywhere but in my laptop? Thanks for any help you can give me!

If Its a brand new Gateway lap top, why not ask the shop where you bought it from? You may get a quicker answer?
