I'm having a problem backing up my games. Everytime I try to burn the image it says "invalid or unsupported file or image format!". I've tried Nero, DVD Decryptor, and Alcohol. The funny thing is my other comp can burn them just fine but it has a cheesy burner that doesn't burn so well.

When you used DVD Decrypter, it should have given you 2 files. An ISO & MDS
You are then burning the MDS with DVD Decrypter, right? Just checking

I am using the ISO.

Should I use the MDS?

I use the ISO to burn movies.

Thank you.

Yes, when burning with DVD Decrypter you will burn the MDS file, not the ISO like all other programs.

No, I am not in MSN but I am having problems with
DVD Decrypter, Sony DVD+R 1-8x and my DVD + burner
that can not burn at lower speed than 2.4x.
The backups seems to work but at low speed and load
slow not like the originals.

Could it be a compatibility issue between the media
and the burner?

you cant say yet if there is a problem with media,.
what is the problem with decrypter, explain how you use it,? also upgrade you firmware,
they say that dvd-r are the best to use, but have you backed up dvds ok?

I have found the that DVD-R work better for me, but if your burner can only do +R then buy some TDK 4X +R and see how they work. burning at 2.4X should be fine. But my friend had the same kind of problems and it was because his burner was just older.
Also i have not seen anyone who burns the ISO with DVD Decrypter? mine will not even let me pick the ISO file, it gives me an error message that tells me i should have picked the MDS file and then picks it for me. Plus if you have a chip in your PS2 it makes a big difference in what games work and how they work. Most games when you have a chip should not require rebuilding like people who use swap magic.

Hi steimy,
Yesterday I bought some maxwells +R 8x from Compusa.
I bought Maxwell because I only want to buy few and
the only ones offering 3 was maxwell.
I selected the MDS as you told me and guess what, it
works very well. Now the game loads and runs as well
as the original. I am going to make a tests to see
if it works with the sonys that I have a lot to see
if the problem was also the media. If Sony doesn't
work I will try with TDK 4x as you suggest. I found
in Compusa Verbatims that in this forum is told that
it may be the best media. What do you think about it?
Thank a lot for solving my problem.
Best regards.

Hi steimy,
So far I have a 50-50 success.
Sometimes the backup works fine and some times it didn't.
I got the TDK media but I coudn't find 4x so I bought 8x.
My DVD burner (_NEC 1100A) allow me only 2.4x.
I have read that 8x media does not work very well burning at speeds
lower than 4x. Should I look harder for DVD+R 4x media?
Should I update the driver?
Thank you.

not sure. I always use the same discs and have a high quality burner so i rarely run into any problems.
My Phillips 8X DVD-R discs always work for me. If you have a version 5 PS2 up to the present V12, you may want to try the -R discs instead, i never use +R myself although i know many other people do and they work for them. They (Phillips 8X -R) always burn at 3.8X on mine and work every time. there are so many factors to work out, but once you get a disc that works all the time, i say stick with it. As for Vernatim, many people like those. I don't use them. When it comes to DVD's cheaper means exactly that, cheaper.
I get the Phillips at Office Depot for around 19.99 for a 25 pack which isn't too bad.

steimy then I guess my DVD Decrypter is the COMPLETE opposite of yours...because mine will ONLY let me select the .ISO file and WILL NOT let me select the MDS one
