use a free app called divxtodvd! load the AVI (if you got 2 for 1 movie load both AVI in!) then let it run! it will output vob/ifo/bup files place these in Nero rom useing tab button ADD-VIDEO, now Nero will make a folder called VIDEO_TS put the vob/ifo/bup files inside and burn to dvdr!
I was in the same situation as you. There is a nice guide here that will enable you to take your AVI files and convert them to DVD files ready to Burn onto DVD. Check out the GUIDES tab top of the screen. It takes you step by step. Goodluck.
