The games will play but they keep freezing up and/or going very very slow. How do I fix this. I've been burning at 2x so I don't know what the problem would be.

I might have found one bad problem that could be the cause of all this. I got suspicious and started thinking it was my ps2 so I took the housing off to see if anything was disconnected and I saw the wire to my cooling fan the goes the mother board was cut in half so I've had no cooling fan this whole time. Could that be the problem of all of this?

just twist the wires together and wrap the wires wiyh electrical tape.positve wire to positive wire and begative to negative.there might be a chance system still works.remember to unplug system before doing this.

can you play original games at least?if not, your ps2 definitely needs repair.with no fan something could have overheated and got damaged.overheating doesnt necessarily damage system too much, but extended overheating does.and there might be a chance you need to clean your lens and thats all.check to see if your ps2 can read all media(audio cd, dvd video etc..)if not then clean lens and try.

with a laser lens cleaner disc from any department store.or you could take ps2 cover off(dont rip off reset ribbon) then take cover off dvd tray(has four tiny screws tht you need tiny philps head screwdriver to take out).then take cotton swap and dip in rubbing alcohol, then squeeze out excess alcohol.then gently brush the lens 2 or 3 times.then use dry side of swap and gently brush twice.then reassemble.

if your ps2 reads all media when you check them in your browser screen,i doubt cleaning lens would help that much.but it never hurts to clean lens anyway

its always best to eliminate everything else before you mess with adjusting burn settings(you waste alot of disc getting it right)

you said your backups boot without swap magic.you might have a mod chip that was improperly installed(its a longshot, but hey?).some mods work by pressing reset button a certain way.its like an on/off switch. if you can get to the motherboard without a problem check for one.

well, usually when you put a backup in a ps2 it goes straight to the red "insert playstation or playstation 2 disc" screen.i never had a backup try and boot.what version is your ps2?did you buy it used or refurbished (basically that means used)?

if you can, find someone with a working ps2 and try your swap magic and backups on their ps2.to see if the backups are the problem for sure.then boot without swap magic on their ps2 to see what i meant about the red screen.
