With your computer specs that is probably about right. You might try cutting off all un-needed processes as the CPU will use 100% of available computing power.
Turn off internet cable modem amd w/ that off and if you have Norton turn off firewall and antivirus. Those programs are power hungry

Your times are far too long.

With a PIII-800 (256RAM)I do it in less than half your times.

Check to ensure that DMA is enabled.

I have an AMD xp2500 @ 1.88GHz and 512Mb ddr ram. I use DVD SHRINK and DVD Decrypter and all my backups take about 20mins for each process.
I would say some settings are wrong either with your progys or your pc

I have a p4 2.8g 512mb ram and it takes 30 mins to rip at 4x (7 - 8 gigs) usually 15 mins to process and 15 mins to burn at 4x.

But its weird how it took 1 hour! to process Saving Private Ryan (movie alone 7gigs!) it came to 65% quality. Some times it can take up to an hour on a new movie backup thats slightly scratched.

I always disconnect internet & firewall, are these figures ok?

I got up to 7x rip on my p3 1gig, why is my 8x burner so slow at ripping?

@Sir-Age, Private Ryan is nearly 3hours long, so imagine it's going to take a hit on the compression. I have this movie, have just never wanted to rip it for that reason.

If a movie is scratched the drive is going to struggle a bit reading it. Maybe the copy that you're copying from is on cheapy media

Why is it that DVD Shrink from start to finish takes 2+ hours and DVD Xcopy take 30 minutes from start to finish?
