Step 1 Ignore other guides, they work and kudos for the people that made them but there is a easier way for 95% of the new games.
Step 2 download Roxio Easy Media Creator ver 7 or higher. crack it
Step 3 make Data image of dvd. (this removes the iso gaps that are put into rescent games, mercenaries, nba street vol3, god of war to name a few.)
Step 4 burn iso image created using dvd decrypter(of course using 2x speed). Your done, also if you want to hdd it, you can use this new dvd to put it on and play it fine.

This will elminate the need to downsample movies music etc, and remove the skipping and problems that plagued other peoples guides. I was shocked to see that people haven't gotten gt4 to work, well I am not a master hacker, but it took me a week....oh well if you guys want I can put guide here to put it all on one dvd. It will be up tomorrow if you anybody needs it. Let me know if this helps anybody. I stand behind it and have finished god of war and merceneries using this.

This guide works, I hate coasters so I really don't want to have a guide that causes other people to make them, I think this is 100% idoit proof, but if anyone runs into problems let me know

Iso gaps???
do you mean dual layer?
I think your method works but not for dvd 9 games.
let me tell you why.
godofwar is a dvd9 7.93 gb
There are 4 gig of pak2 files in the second layer that
are needed to finish the game.
You need to have both layers extracted for this to work.
Sure you can burn and copy the first layer, but the
game will get stuck and freeze.

I dont see how roxio copied the second layer onto a dvd5,
Since the file is too large unless you ,manually remove movies.
which we all had to do in torder to re-build it.
Since neither roxio or DVD Decrypter will burn the second layer,
You may have backed it up but im sure it wont play through.

For regular games sure, but dvd9 games are different
As anyone who has copied this game will tell you.

They are a lot of newbies that come here and they need
to get honest good information.

try it before you talk, the actual data on both layer is only 4.3gb
can vouch for finishing the game on this method. Feel free to try and load up one of your final saves and see if the second layer isn't fully intact.

I have tried it several times,
Ummm i have re-built this game twice,

A complete .iso of godofwar is 7.97gb

There is no way you played the game through,
or you are lying through your teeth.

Ask anyone else that has re-built the game and see what they say.
This game is different than any other i have backed up.

Extract both layers of the dvd9 into the same directory.

You are looking for 16 files 7.97 gb
(make sure you got pak2 file from layer 1 and
place in same directory as the other files)

Ok lets explain.
First off the image you are pulling of of each disc layer. 7.97 gb total is the total size of the iso. That is dead on, but what you guys are missing is the fact that it is dummied up to increase the data size. This program removes the dead data. Take nba street vol3, for example (I know this is not dvd9 format by the way, duh), but it is dummied up to cause the iso to be over the iso size of swap magic disc, so it has to be cogswapped or rebuilt to run. But it you remove the dummy files through roxio, the iso is only 2.7 gb (oh yeah by the way loads faster, and once you dnas it you can play online flawless) I stand behind that God of War only was 4.2 gb of real data on it. Whoever feels like proving me wrong do it. There is only 4.9gb of real data on gt4...try before you flame.

I have to agree with Jizmak on this,it really isn't that easy like you say.If you are talking about dummy files, then no there are no dummy files in God of War.The full game is 7.97Gig in size, what you don't see is that the program you are using is only extracting the first layer and burning it.GT4 is actually 4.9Gig in size and I agree with you,but you still can't play a 4.9Gig game with Swap Magic because the TOC is higher than Swap Magic. The TOC of Swap Magic is 4.35Gig in size.If you go over this size,Swap Magic will not work.It is a known fact that the size has to either be equal to Swap Magic or either the size has to be lower than Swap Magic. So what you just said doesn't really mean anything.Sure you can burn a 4.9Gig game or decrease the size of God of War by just burning the first layer of the game.It isn't hard to do,and I promise you anyone can burn the discs.Getting the games to play is different though,GT4 is encoded by some very smart programmers. The game has TOC checks which modchips patch, and therefore fix the cause of this issue. If you are playing these games then you definately aren't using Swap Magic. You are probably using a DMS4 modchip, because no matter what anyone says about GT4 full size 4.9Gig playing for Swap Magic. It is false information for right now,and it is proven that it is false information.Anyway the games have to be decoded, extracted and rebuilt removing the checks of the game.

My point exactly your missing the pak2.file
apache2 will let let you view and extract the pak2 file
in the second layer.

Your method probably works for other games.
But AS FOR GODOFWAR there are no dummy files.
Actual content has to be removed for godofwar to work.

Your method wont work for godofwar.
