best DVD-R brand to use for PS2 backups

I'm new here so I don't know if this has been driven into the ground or anything, but what is the best type of CD-R (for emulators), DVD-R or DVD+R to use when burning PS2 images?

I have tried Kodak DVD-R, Memorex DVD+R and Cicero CD-R, and neither one has worked so far, because they're not recognized as a PSX or PS2 disc in the system.

I don't know if this matters, but I am using a Duo2se mod chip in my PS2.

I have used Maxell DVD-R with no problem once so ever! No skipping or anything- I played ALL METAL GEAR SOLID 3 with no skipping...Oh and I have tried Memorex DVD-R not +R and they work well to except..I got some skipping during Metal Gear Solid 3
