Guys someone has to be able to help me here. I used VSO2DVD to convert DIVX/AVI to DVD. It created the video_ts folder containing the following files:
video_ts.bup
Video_ts.ifo
Vts_01_0.bup
Vts_01_0.ifo
Vts_01_1.vob
Vts_01_2.vob
Vts_01_3.vob
Vts_01_4.vob
I burn these onto DVD+R disks knowing my DVD burner supports both + and -R. My problem is after I burn the files to disk and I go to play it back with PowerDVD I get the following error message: TheTV Out port of your display card is not working properly. Also my DVD player tells me that I have a bad or blank disk. Can someone shed some light for me? Point me toward a good tutorial to convert AVI/DIVX to DVD perhaps?

Make sure you put them in a VIDEO_TS folder. and mabey create an empty AUDIO_TS

Trouble shooting
First will the DVD (vob) files play from your harddrive?
Second Will the disk you burnt play on anyone elses DVD player or computer?
Third Have you had any successful burns?

Second Will the disk you burnt play on anyone elses DVD player or computer? No, I tried it in my friends pc and in his DVD drive.
As for good burns I have not had a single one for DVD. VCD I have done plenty of times.

Aopen dual layer DVD +/- RW. I am using Memorex DVD+R. My burning software is Nero Vision Express 2.

Nero Vision Express is Nero's encoder. You don't need to reencode the files you already did that. Use Nero burning rom and choose make DVD video place the files in the Video_ts folder.
If you have smart start look on the left drop down arrows and open Nero Burning Rom there.

HINT:
First, create a folder for your work on your desktop OR somewhere on your HD where you can find it again. - Name it something that you'll be able to find. I named mine C:\All My DVD Work\Sleeping Beauty Kills Bill, needs Anger Management. Now load your IFO, BUP and VOB files there - make sure they are in a folder named VIDEO_TS written like that (all in Caps) - some programs like DVD Shrink will make the properly named folder for you, others you must make the folder yourself - Nero needs that folder with all it's contents in order to work properly -
Burning a file made by DVD Shrink.
If you had used DVD Shrink to create a file on your HD you are truly in great shape. When you wish to burn, use the "File Browser" in Nero Classic (don't use Nero's Wizard), trace your path back to C:\All My DVD Work\Sleeping Beauty Kills Bill, needs Anger Management. , you don't have to remember where your work is or if you need to do anymore work on it, it is completely finished, ready to go - -

Please follow EXACTLY -
Vhen you open Nero Burning ROM, you vill be at zee "New Compilation" window. Directly under the title "New Compilation" is a choice block to choose either zee DVD or zee CD, choose zee "DVD". Directly under that click on zee "DVD Video Icon." Then click "New" in the upper right corner of that screen, NOT zee main screen.
You now are in zee "DVD Video" window. In zee left screen, click "VIDEO_TS". In zee "File Browser" screen, 3rd from zee left, trace your path to zee VIDEO_TS folder, zee one you made earlier holding all of your files and click on that folder. All of your VIDEO_TS files are now opened in zee right screen. Click on zee top file, hold down zee "Shift" key and then click zee bottom file thereby hi-lighting zee entire column of files. Click and (holding zee left mouse button down) drag zee entire column of files to zee open screen, second from zee left and release zee mouse button. Now click zee icon on zee task bar that shows a match on a disc, and then click "OK" and now, clear zee room, stand up tall and shout out, "Burn Baby, BURN" ! One more time, let me hear you say it, "Who's your Daddy Now ???"

ok something must be wrong. I tried both methods that were perscribed to me. I had the file from TMPGEnc auth. and tried burning it like I was told. That did not work. It created a disk that would not play on my computer on in my DVD player.
Then I tried the Germans way. I created the file with DVD Shrink and then tried burning it with Nero. I got an error message that said it failed.
I am pasting that log below.

Yep........I would start by getting rid of the memorex and trying better media. Seems to me when issues like this arouse 9 times out of 10 it is the media when memorex is involved. I remember very well the headaches I went though. Buying burners, exchanging for new ones cuz I thought it was the problem. Fought the situation for At least a month untill I was introduced to this site and was told abouth the media issue. Been using Ritek ever since and farwell to memorex. No More Coaster!!!........Good Luck!.......cheers :)

The error message you get from PowerDVD has absolutely nothing to do with the burned DVD. I imagine if you inserted a commercial DVD, you would get the same message. The fact that it doesn't play in your standalone may be due to your standalone player or the way you burned the DVD (some players don't like it when you burn a DVD with UDF format). I like to use Nero's wizard selecting 'DVD Video'. That way, when you burn the files, it will check to see if your files and directories are DVD compliant before burning. The description of your problem is still vague - I don't know whether it's with the encoding stage, burning stage, or with the DVD player. Good luck.

Finally I got it. I converted an AVI file with TMPGEnc into a DVD format. Reauthored first time using TMPGEnc v6. It would not let me burn the disk. After going to the tmpg website I learned that v6 reauther would not work on Win98SE and had to be ran on a NTFS format. SO I used DVD Shrink instede. Selected to burn the disk and within 30 minutes I had a DVD. It can be done on a 450 MHZ processer and my ram amount worked fine. It took awhile though. The MPG conversion took the longest time. I burned them on the original media I had purchased as well to rule out bad media.
Thanks to each and everyone of you who gave input and got me moving down the road so to speak.

You might wish to try TMPGEnc DVD Author after TMPGEnc. It easily converts your non-complaint MPG into your VOB's and burns it to disk.
Of course, if you wish additional edioting or compression The same files that TMPGEnc DVD Author would burn to disc can be picked up by Shrink.
Using TMPGEnc DVD Author will result in a better end product (IMO)
Now that your problem is solved, it's not time to leave just yet, hang out iffin you have the time, snoop around on some of the other forums, checkout the "Safety Valve", there's usually something in the "Wacko" category going on there - OR check out our forums on Home Theater components, CD's, PS2, X-box or Gamecube topics or even Cellular phones ? there's something for everybody :)
