it can if you have a modchip with the new toxic bios, and burn it to a duel layer disc. There is also a new article on ps2-scene.org about running it with hd advance off a hd.

Read the end of the thread.
Toolboy has released a kit which will allow HDD users to play the game without having to have a DMS4 chip. In other words, there is now a confirmed, working solution for HDD users who wish to load the game off their hard drives.

And if you have a DMS4 chip and are using an HDD the newest Toxic BIOS/App will allow you to load DVD9 games from your hard drive with no problems. The only thing required is for you to flatten the images.

As for Swap Magic users? Neness from alucard.cc forums has already started to decrypt the CORE.GT4 file (this was just very recently). Core.Gt4 is a TOC and the key in getting the game finally resizable to DVD5 lies in the matter of decrypting that file.

In other words, a few of these guys are amazingly close. Neness, Darthi8nt, Gherudos, L-Burna and a few other guys are doing a lot, and are fairly close to finally getting the game to work.

It's only a short matter of time before the game will be DVD5-resizable.

Holy shit there is a lot of new progress and information to soak in since I last checked here. I've been reading the most popular threads for the past hour or so and my eyes hurt.

Please correct (or confirm) accordingly:

GT4 Backup in playable form:

Option1) DMS chip, newest toxic, rip, burn on DL and play. This is the same method as any game done before.

Option2) Use the method from toolboy to save the entire disc to the harddrive (with a RETAIL version of the game)

Option3) I don't know what this option is. Remy you mention a way if Toolboy's method is used along with the DMS but I have no idea what the difference is between this and #2.

1.) GT4 is playable if you burn the usual way using DVD Decrypter and a Dual-Layer disc. You must have a DMS4 chip, and the newest ToxicOS/BIOS.

2.) GT4 (and all DVD9 games) playable on HDD if you flatten the image. You must have a DMS4 chip and the newest ToxicOS/BIOS.

3.) A kit was recently released that will allow non-DMS4 HDD users to play GT4. There are links in the big GT4 thread.

These are now the currently working ways to play the game. The ongoing discussion in the big GT4 thread is about backing up the game to a DVD5.

What sucks, though, is that for every advancement, 20 jerks make stupid comments, spread disinformation, and crap all over the thread.

Laziness isn't an excuse and watch the language too. This is the second GT4 thread you've started in two days. Start another and you'll be deactivated.
